In a league watched by millions, it’s powerful to see someone proudly carry the Word of God with him.

There’s nothing like a coffee shop that lifts GOD UP. Check this one out in Briggsville Wisconsin this summer.

I won’t bore you with the details or the challenges that we’ve been facing lately, however, I want you to know that God continues to still meet us where we are at and turn everything that was meant for bad into good. If you know me, you know my faith runs deep, and I rely totally on where God is directing our lives. But I have to tell you, this morning, as we are facing more challenges, I hear on the radio the song by Forrest Frank, THANKFUL, followed up by a song called SMILE, and then I get back into the car and Ceci Winan is singing HE IS WORTHY OF IT ALL. God continues to reassure me that he’s in charge and I am so so happy that as we navigate this crazy world. I know I’m not navigating it alone and nothing that is happening is a surprise to God. So if you are having a tough day, I encourage you to find the joy that God has for you.

I also understand that not all of this music is played on 97X, however, because I bounce around to various Christian stations, rock, hip-hop, worship, I feel led to give glory to God and to come and encourage you in your walk. If you are facing challenges, surround yourself, the music and experiences that lift God on high and I promise you, it will make a life-changing difference in your life and how you look at LIFE. Who remembers?

💿 **DID YOU KNOW?**

Petra’s “For Annie” was a surprisingly controversial song for Christian music in 1981.

At a time when many churches were still debating whether rock music belonged anywhere near a sanctuary—cue the concerned looks from the back pew—Petra released a haunting song about a teenage girl whose pain went unnoticed until it was too late.

Written by Bob Hartman and included on the breakthrough album *Never Say Die*, “For Annie” dealt openly with su***de, loneliness, absent parents, and the responsibility Christians have to notice hurting people.

That was not comfortable territory for Christian radio.

Most faith-based songs of the era offered encouragement, testimony, or a clear victory at the end. “For Annie” offered something much harder: regret.

It asked whether we had been too busy with our meetings, routines, and religious activity to see someone quietly falling apart beside us.

And yet, the song connected. “For Annie” reportedly reached the top five on Christian radio in 24 markets.

Recently, one of their staff from that time, commented on one of our posts and said they got many letters and calls saying how Petra had impacted. This song in particular was credited for intercepting a number of su***des.

More than four decades later, the question behind the song still lingers:
