A little inside look at my Paint on the Patio Lovely Landscape Series at The Rail House in Deerfield.

These two-hour guided experiences are designed to help you unwind, explore creativity, and leave with a finished painting you’re proud of — whether you’re a beginner or haven’t painted in years. Each class is a standalone experience held one Wednesday a month from 6–8 PM at The Rail House in Deerfield, so you can join whenever it works for you — no need to attend every session.

I love creating an atmosphere where guests can relax, connect, and enjoy the process just as much as the final piece.

Today on WORLD PET MEMORIAL DAY, I’m reflecting on the privilege of helping celebrate the lives of beloved pets through custom portraiture.

This NEWEST commission is ready to be framed and delivered—created for someone who didn’t quite have the words for a grieving friend after the loss of their cherished dog. Sometimes art becomes a way to hold memories, stories, personality, and love when words feel hard to find.

Over the last 10 years, I’ve painted dozens and dozens of pets—each one deeply loved and each one leaving a mark. Looking back through my camera roll reminds me what an honor it is to help preserve these connections.

One of my favorite watercolor house portraits to date.

Soft blues, layered color, meaningful details… and now the final step before it heads to its forever home.

I always take time to carefully package each painting in archival protection, document it for my portfolio, and pause with the piece before delivery. Creating art like this is deeply personal — every painting holds hours of observation, emotion, storytelling, and heart.

It’s never just about the artwork. It’s about honoring a place, a memory, and the feeling of home.
