Select "in store pickup" and come get your items next week during our regular business hours, or pay our flat shipping rate for shipping (of almost all items) to anywhere in the U.S. Sending a gift? Leave us a note and we'll wrap it for you for FREE!

Rain and wind can’t stop our dedicated banned book readers on this “Let Freedom Read” day!

First thing this morning, Lisa and Jenna (mom and daughter) who are dedicated members of our “Not Your Grandma’s Book Club,” showed up to read that club's next banned book selection during their Read-In time at the store today. If you want to participate from home, just make a selfie while you’re reading a banned book and tag us and !

We've had a couple of others join in, as well, and are so grateful that even on a rainy, dreary day, people are committed to reading books that someone, somewhere has decided to ban or restrict.

Are you the parent of a middle or high school student who loves history? Or would you yourself like to learn more about WWII and the Holocaust (with or without an adolescent in tow)?

We are so fortunate to be co-hosting this bestselling author on October 19 at the Madison Public Library and we want to offer Sharon an amazing welcome to our community!

Go to the event on our FB page for tickets (Click “More,” then “Events” for the ticket link), since we are now limited on the number of links we can post per month.

While we hope that this weekend's weather impact will be minimal, we have to plan ahead, just in case.

While we will be open our normal hours on Saturday, we have decided to cancel our author event with Yance Wyatt at Old Black Bear, and we've moved our Banned Books Read-in INSIDE the store (or feel free to read at home and tag us to show your support!). We were already planning to announce a Sunday closure due to a private event today, and yesterday we announced the postponement of our Open Table Book Club until Sunday, October 18 (3-5 PM, as usual).

All of this means that our weekend sales will be significantly impacted, so we are going to run a massive online sale: 20% OFF ALL IN STOCK ITEMS ALL WEEKEND LONG (from midnight Friday until midnight Sunday)! Use code OCT2026 and 20% will be discounted at checkout on books, gifts, candles, soap, etc. The only exclusions are local art, Emily Lex, and Catstudio products. Stock up on some favorites, buy that book you've been hoping to get, or find a unique gift for a friend or family member. You can either have your item shipped to you or to a friend (we'll even wrap it if it's a gift, before we ship it!), or select "Pick up in store" to pick up next week during our regular business hours.

THANK YOU for shopping local and supporting us, even when life - and the weather - is chaotic!
