Our February show is usually the first art show of the year around the Madison, Wisconsin area. As the coordinator, I like to keep in touch with the artists who have previously participated in one of our events and so I travel to other shows nearby to visit, to see their new work, give them a heads up on the next application date and hand them postcards to give to their customers.

Today, I visited Plover, Wisconsin where many of our artists also show at the Stevens Point Festival Of the Arts - another long-running show with terrific artwork displayed.

Here are the artists we shared this year from February:
Jean's Clay Studio, Terra Domus Tile, Hendrix Ceramics, Eric Melton-White Pottery, Maria Romero Parks of Madorola, Nancy Garden Handweaving, Helen's Daughters Studio, Rogue Wovens, No Rules Jewelry, CrewlArt by Gregory Frederic, Longshadow Woodworks and Shawn Olmstead of Mulberry Woods.

I think at least one of "our" artists has won "Best Of Show" at Stevens Point Festival of the Arts in past years and this year was no different! Congratulations to Maria Romero Parks of Madorola!

We are always impressed by the artists we host in February and in October with how involved they are with other shows and exhibits and the awards they win along the way.

We have a number who are also Wisconsin Craft members and some took part in the Collaborative Playground Exhibit that opened last evening in Milwaukee. We hope you can get to Alverno College to see the exhibit which closes on March 6th. If so, you will see a different side of their work as they had to combine their work with another artist in one or more pieces. Two of our often-returning artists won awards last night. Susan Galkowski of Whisked Away, who brings her fantastic brooms to our show, worked with a pottery artist using reed weaving to add to the pot. Jean of Jean's Clay Studio worked with a fiber artist for a fun rendition of TWO teapots also won an award.

Diana Ferguson, Pat Kroth, Nan Marshall and Kipp Inglis also had pieces of collaboration in the exhibit!

We can’t believe that less than a week ago our artists were packing their cars and preparing for our art show! It was an incredible weekend, and we wanted to share a few after-shots of the amazing artwork you may have missed.

If there was that one special piece you’re still thinking about, don’t worry - you can always reach out directly to the artist through our listing on our website at fineartandcraftsale.com. Supporting handmade doesn’t have to end when the show does!

That’s a wrap until our work on our October show begins. Thank you to all our patrons and supporters! Thank you Olbrich Botanical Gardens staff for allowing us to utilize your rooms by the artisans and for all the help involved.

Thank you to all the artists who work with all their heart to bring you their best. We are so glad you chose to exhibit with us!

Thank you to the guild committee for all you do as a “village” to keep this endeavor together as well as the Madison Weavers Guild and member volunteers. And thank you to our ever knowledgeable and always ready to help social media, website administrator and PR advisor.
