over the last year. We can’t thank you enough!💞

As a volunteer-run organization that offers regular free community events
(in addition to our paid programming!),
we rely on the time, care, and resources of our community
to keep us going strong.

IN 2 WEEKS!!!! We'll be part of the first Commercial Ave Bazaar ( CAB)
Saturday Sept 5, 12-7pm

We hope you join us this first of what we hope will be a yearly event!

Here's a preview of what we'll have happening in our space, though we're sure there will be lots of random diy creative energy popping up inside our suite, among the artist studios of we are surrounded by AND the other great locations doing cool stuff ( tagged at the bottom)

We're hosting live music from our stage inside 3-6pm
in no particular set order

From 12-7pm

We're also hosting a myriad of activities that touch on some of our regular drop in programming including collage ( with a mindful prompt), zine making, and for this event button making ( more on this next week)

Of course our couch is always available comfy spot to read zines from our library, regulate or just hang out.

As always we require masks in our suite.
We're getting low on mask stock so we appreciate when folks come prepared but we will have masks if you forget yours.

Commerical Ave Bazaar is free to attend, activities and music at Communication are also free however, as an all volunteer team we certainly appreciate donations so we can continue to provide free programming.

This weekend: LET’S GET HEAVY TOGETHER. Saturday night we’ve got metal/punk/alt rock with Volt Sea, Dog Logic, FYA, and Aeropax. Sunday night will be q***r goth/noise/emo from m.otherthing, Evelyn Gray, Borasisi, and Somatosensation. We have plenty of earplugs and masks; we just need y’all!

EVENT PAUSE: heads-up that due to volunteer schedules for the upcoming month, our beloved weekly drop-in knitting and crochet night (and bedazzling and jewelry tinkering and all around craft circle) is taking a mini late summer hiatus!

These slides are an overview of August one time and recurring events in our space. You can find up to date info on our website

We realize things are hard right now for many reasons. We're still here whenever you need or want to be around people.

With Live Events, Drop in Arts and Crafts and a few events to process together there are ways to be together and become more interdependent.

We hope to see you and process together. We will continue also to demand justice for Corey Ruiz and everyone else who has not yet had their needs met by our city, state and nation

As always, we require masks because we care that everyone including our disabled friends have a safe space to be. If you forget your mask we have some on hand.

We still have hardcopies available - assembled and unassembled. You can pick some up during drop-in events and at The People's Library at Corey's corner.

These zines are just the beginning! Many thanks to Alder and Common Council VP Carmella Glenn for sharing all the info that brought these zines into being.

We hope Corey's corner/ memorial and Corey Ruiz Autonomous Zone ( CRAZE) continue to demonstrate what it means to deeply care for each other. Go experience real community and support our demands.

We will continue creating resources to connect folks with help and care AND help folks understand there are local services better equipped to support us than the police.

We keep us safe.

We said there would be more sharing of resources!

These zines were created from info shared by Carmella Glenn our Common Council VP. She has been publically sharing this information to get us all to understand what community oversight and support actually looks like AND that there are many resources and orgs that support folks already in many situations that the police are ill equipped to handle.

We continue to believe that calling the police puts people in harm's way.

We recognize the argument "Who do we call?" These resources are part of that answer.

We have a stack to cut and fold but they are available. Stop by and grab some to distribute.
We'll be dropping more folded copies at the Corey Ruiz memorial and in other places too.

At some point we'll make the file accessible in case you want to print off your own too.

Stay tuned for more zines about other resources that will help our community connect and get our needs met.

Corey Ruiz did not deserve to die. MPD needs to be held accountable via the Office of Independent Police Monitor
At Communication and in the spaces we operate in, we believe in the safety and integrity of every person AND that is why we refuse to call the police
In our state and in our city we have the highest racial disparity in the nation when it comes to how many Black folks are targeted, arrested, imprisoned and harmed by the police
To call the police is to invite harm.
That is an unacceptable risk we are unwilling to take.
We hope this ethos can continue to be adopted by community orgs, businesses and community members so that harm ends.
In comings days/ weeks we will continue to share resources and alternative community supports so we know how to end cycles instead of lives.

Corey Ruiz did not deserve to die. MPD needs to be held accountable via the Office of Independent Police Monitor
