Every Saturday, Monkey Business Institute creates unique performances at the Glass Nickel Pizza East - 2916 Atwood Ave. We craft spur-of-the-moment, seat-of-the-pants improv comedy by mixing audience suggestions, decades of improv experience, and sheer moxie. Our group features over 20 experienced and talented performers with backgrounds in stand-up comedy, acting, writing and music. Many of our m

embers are also frequent guests of the Blame Society Films ensemble (Chad Vader, Beer & Board Games, Welcome to the Basement). We recommend buying your tickets online to guarantee your seats, as our venue sells out quickly. Saturday All-Ages Show ($20, 5:30PM, Seating at 4:45PM), and Saturday Grown-Up Show ($25, 8PM, Seating at 7:15PM)! See our website for special shows and showcases. Yes Ma’am is a joyful mashup of improv comedy and real-life stories from the women of Monkey Business for audiences of all genders. Featuring a cast of accomplished actors, musicians, composers, and standup comedians drawn together by a love of improv and each other, this weird and wonderful show has been a favorite in Madison and comedy festivals around the Midwest since October, 2016.

TWO WEEKS LEFT to vote in Best of Madison, and we are getting feral about it. Have you ever seen a group of improvisers refresh a voting page 400 times? It's not pretty. Save us from ourselves. Vote MBI for Best Comedy Group AND Performing Arts Group before June 30.

J.D. Walsh was the founder of Ultimate Improv in Westwood, CA and has been teaching improv for 30 years in Southern California. JD, a graduate of UCLA School of Theater, Film and Television has performed in over 100 national commercials, TV shows such as Hacks, Tulsa Kings and Two and a Half Men, 24 and movies from The Amazing Spiderman to Bad Boys 2. In 1999 JD opened Ultimate, a theatre that believes Improv/Comedy does not need to be fast, loud and soulless but instead requires patience, risk and heart. He has been a visiting instructor at the Globe Theater in San Diego as well as teaching improv workshops in Chicago, New Zealand, Boston and New York.

Friendly reminder that Best of Madison voting is happening RIGHT NOW, and MBI is on the ballot for Best Comedy Group AND Performing Arts Group. We're not above begging. We've actually been training for it.

We know we've won this thing a suspicious number of times. We know the other comedy groups probably have a group chat about us. We know our improv coach said we should "find validation from within." But the polls are open until June 30, and within is a TERRIBLE place to look for validation, so here we are. Vote MBI in both categories, and we promise to keep being the funniest thing happening on a Madison stage on any given weekend.
