Congratulations to our friends at Third Avenue PlayWorks! New plays for the win. Let's keep that World Premiere Wisconsin vibe rolling year after year 🤩

At our annual gala at Stone Harbor Resort on Sunday evening, we announced the expansion of our annual WinterWorks Play Reading Series in 2027 to the WinterWorks New Play Festival.

The expanded festival, which is sponsored by Joseph and Gwenn Graboyes, spans the entire month of February and features free workshop readings on Saturdays of three new plays, as well as two other readings of new and contemporary plays.

“World premiere productions provide a unique and memorable experience for audiences as they help to shape the play for subsequent productions,” says Jackie and Steve Kane Artistic Director Jacob Janssen. “We are excited to support the creative process as well as introduce our audience to new writers. It all begins with the new play process.”

STAR WATCH 🤩 We're so excited to see all of these Forward favorites in 'And Then There Were None' at Milwaukee Repertory Theater! Actors Marcella Kearns (FTC Artistic Associate), James Carrington (FTC Advisory Company), Matt Daniels, and Steven Koehler onstage, with Lighting Designer (and FTC Advisory Company) Noelle Stollmack making them look amazing. Congratulations, all!

We join our entire community in mourning the loss of the generational talent Michael Johnson. His leadership and vision strengthened the fabric of Dane County for generations. It was always a joy to have Michael in the theater - he brought a big heart, an even bigger laugh, and a generosity of spirit that filled every room he entered. Our thoughts are with his family, his colleagues, and the many people whose lives he touched.

A HUGE round of applause to the team of artists and staff that helped make last week's 2026 Wisconsin Wrights New Play Festival shine! Thank you to the on-site production team, the Edgewood University student assistants, and the talented actors, directors, and stage managers that brought these plays to life.

Most importantly, congratulations to festival playwrights David Daniel (Roses & Ruses), Jacqueline Kehoe (Impossible Monsters), and Ali Mansouri (Paper)! Each play was a delight for our audiences, and a reminder of the brilliance and depth of the Wisconsin theater community. We hope to see these plays featured on a mainstage soon!
