Overture Center’s four galleries create a forum for diverse artistic expression that fosters the growth of local artists, curators and arts organizations.

Looking at Local in a New Light. Three galleries radiate off Rotunda Lobby and the Playhouse Gallery serves as lobby for The Playhouse Theater. Community events and exhibits also occur in the Rotunda facing State Street. Overture Galleries are free and open to the public.

We’re celebrating the first day of fall by featuring one of our Fall Gallery Exhibitions!

The Textile Arts Center of Madison is a hub for the fiber arts community, offering workshops, exhibitions, events and supplies for makers and enthusiasts of all ages and backgrounds.

The organization and its artists are gaining exposure through a new exhibition at Overture’s Playhouse Gallery, curated by Heather Kohlmeier and featuring 21 artists.

“The theme for the exhibition is creative reuse,” said Kohlmeier. “It focuses on textile and fiber artworks made from materials that have been upcycled, scavenged, repurposed or given new life.”

Fall Exhibitions are open at Overture Galleries! Stop by to see a range of work from local and national artists that is centered on the everyday. Work ranges from sculpture, textiles, mixed media and more. Open through Nov 29th.

Slow down and connect through art this Thu, Aug 6 at 10am! The workshop begins with a guided meditation from Wildflower Therapies, followed by a Slow Art viewing of “Corazona: Art and Heritage of Mexican Women” in the Playhouse Gallery. Participants will learn the ancient Mexican craft of totomoxtle, transforming corn husks into colorful, handcrafted flowers through a mindful making process led by Yesica Coria. Explore our newest installation from the Mexican Folk Art Collective on display in the Playhouse Gallery now through Sunday, August 23!

This exhibition brings together more than 10 Mexican women artists from Mexico and the United States who are members of the Mexican Folk Art Collective. Their works include sculpture, clay, paintings, textiles, cartonería, corn husk figures and woodcuts inspired by Mexican folk-art traditions.

We’re thrilled to introduce Kevin, our new Galleries Coordinator!

“I come from a creative background with a long-standing interest in art and visual expression. Creativity plays a big role in how I approach both my work and my everyday life. I try to utilize it whenever possible, whether that’s developing ideas, solving problems or finding new ways to look at things.

Outside of work, I enjoy biking and spending time making art, both of which keep me connected. I also have my dog, Cherry, who is always keeping me on my toes!

When creating art, I have always had an interest in capturing moments in time. Many times, I pull from my own experiences; whether that be moments captured by a camera, a distant memory or a saying that’s stuck with me. My hope is that by capturing these moments, others will be able to remember times in their lives, or certain emotions that I felt in that moment. Recently, I have been experimenting with digital illustration, however my past experience is primarily in printmaking.

I’m excited about this role because it feels like a place where creativity, collaboration and personal growth are championed. I’m looking forward to sharing creative work that connects with and engages the community.”
