City of Madelia: Join Us to Discuss the Future of Watona Park!

We’re thrilled to invite you to the next public workshop on the Watona Park Master Plan, happening at 6 p.m. on September 9th at City Hall. Your voice is crucial in shaping the future of our beloved park!

Last month, on August 12th, City Administrator Chris Fischer shared the first look at the preliminary designs during a public workshop. We also announced a new partnership with the Madelia’s Splash Pad & Park committee to locate the Splash Pad within Watona Park, near other amenities, to create a cost-effective recreational space for people of all ages. With the recent flood causing significant damage to park structures, it’s clear that improvements are needed—and this is where you come in!

At the upcoming workshop, we’re eager to hear your thoughts on the new playground and how we can best utilize the land in the flood zone. Your ideas will help shape the final plan and ensure Watona Park is a space everyone can enjoy.

Exciting news! Site plan is finished, featuring a parking lot, splash pad, restroom, covered shelter area and 5000+ sqft playground. Everything will be handicap accessible and ADA compliant. If you or anyone you know would like to help us reach our goals with an in-kind donation of work or monetary donation please reach out to us! Our goal is to break ground this year!
