Wow—what an amazing night at the McEachern Art Center!
We had the largest turnout in MAC history, and nearly a sold-out show of artwork. Thank you to Cal Walker for sharing your work with us. We’re thrilled to bring The American South to the MAC and to see such an incredible response from the community.
Aspecial thank you to all of our donors and supporters, and to President Elkins for joining us for the opening. And thank you to Julie Anne Steed and Jake Steed for the wonderful live music that made the evening even more special.
If you missed the opening, there’s still plenty of time to see the exhibition. Stop by tonight from 4–8 PM, or visit us Thursday through Saturday, 4–8 PM, through mid-September.

Save the date and mark your calendars for Friday, August 7 at 6 PM as we open our new season with “The American South”, featuring the work of Cal Walker.
Step into Walker’s world through paintings of Southern landscapes, wildlife, and portraiture. The exhibition will also include taxidermy and other environmental elements that help create the atmosphere surrounding the work and reflect the natural world that inspires his practice. These objects are not created by Walker, but are included to deepen the exhibition’s sense of place and environment.
This exhibition marks Walker’s first solo show. Walker was born and raised in Macon. The opening reception will also feature live music by Julie Anne Steed and Jake Steed.
McEachern Art Center members will receive early access to preview the exhibition and may purchase available artwork at a 10% discount. Updates sent to members soon!
