A couple of years ago, Anna, Jordan and I opened Escape MJ’s with a dream of bringing something different to our community and using the proceeds to give back and help others. It was never just about running a business. It was about creating memories, bringing people together, and doing something good along the way. Unfortunately, I’ve made the decision to close our doors for now. I won’t lie… this one hurts. A lot of time, work, money, and most importantly, heart went into this place. But I’m not giving up. Sometimes you have to close one door, regroup, and come back stronger. My hope is that this fall, Escape MJ’s will return bigger, better, and with an entirely new vision.
Thank you to everyone who walked through our doors, supported us, and believed in what we were trying to do. You’ll never know how much it meant to us. This isn’t goodbye. It’s just the end of this chapter.
We’re not done yet. Not even close.

And here’s a little hint about what might be coming next… think paint. 🎨😉

🚨 IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT FROM ESCAPE MJ’S 🚨

This is honestly not an easy post to make…

After a lot of conversations, late nights, and going back and forth, we’ve made the difficult decision that Escape MJ’s will be relocating out of Macomb later this year.

This community has supported us from day one, and we truly don’t take that lightly. From our very first bookings to watching so many of you come back again and again… it’s meant more than you know.

Unfortunately, with everything changing and opportunities presenting themselves in a larger market, we feel like this is the direction we have to go to continue growing.

We’ll be sharing more details soon, including timelines and what this means moving forward.

For now, we just want to say… thank you ❤️

Got old stuff you wouldn’t miss if it disappeared?
Before you toss it… message us.
With spring officially here and the spring cleaning has begun, we thought we would reach out. We’re collecting certain items for a project we’re working on!
Think things that crack, shatter, and don’t survive impact.

📺 Electronics: TVs, computers, printers, keyboards, phones
🍽️ Glass & Ceramics: Plates, bottles, vases, jars, anything breakable
🪑 Furniture: Small desks, wood chairs
🖨️ Office Stuff: Printers, keyboards, outdated equipment
💿 Misc: CDs, decorative items,
⛔️We can not take: the old time box tube/projection/plasma tvs

If it’s taking up space and ready for a dramatic ending… message us.

‼️Small business reality check.‼️

When we opened Escape MJ’s, I had two main goals: Keep it affordable for Macomb and donate to animals and kids. Most escape rooms are around $40 per person.
We have held the line at $25 because we wanted families, friends, and WIU students to be able to actually enjoy it without breaking the bank.
But the reality of running a small business is… costs keep climbing.
Our electric bill alone runs $300–$500 a month in the winter. So after holding the line as long as we could, we have to make a small adjustment.
Escape MJ’s will now be $30 per person.
We will be still one of the most affordable escape rooms around, and we promise we’ll keep working to make it worth every dollar.
The exciting part is what’s coming next:

“The Basement” — our newest escape room — will be ready within the next couple of weeks. And shortly after that, we’ll be opening a small pilot Rage Room to test out something we think is going to be a very fun new addition.
