For this week's Artist Spotlight, we would like to show appreciation for the works of one of our on-site landscape artists, Ken Christensen!
Christensen primarily draws inspiration from the French Impressionists and Fauves, so much so that he founded an artist group known as "The New Fauves", dedicated to propagating the style and aesthetics of the great French Fauve painters. Kevin Barton, another one of our great artists, belongs to this group as well.
Ken Christensen has many gorgeous scenes of Mackinac being displayed in our gallery as well as at our fine-dining restaurant, Chianti, located at Mission Point Resort.

For our first ever Artist Spotlight, we will be highlighting the impressionistic works of Kevin Barton!

Barton has a remarkable professional career of nearly 30 years as a contemporary artist, specializing in oil painting. He has a wonderfully unmistakable style, characterized by its potent vibrance and texture.

During Barton's visits to Mackinac, you may catch him plein-air painting* in various spots around the island, if you're lucky. He goes out of his way to try and capture new locations and perspectives of the island, making every one of his pieces beautifully unique. We are incredibly grateful to showcase his work at Mackinac's Little Gallery!
