🎶 The Machias Bay Chamber Concerts Executive Board is proud to announce the Class of 2025 Billie & Hollis Ingalls Music Award Honorees from 5 area high schools. These five graduating Seniors were selected by their high school music directors for their energetic and positive contributions to their school music programs:
(Machias Memorial High School) - WILLIAM GOOD - has been an active member of the Machias Schools music program as a Band student since 4th grade, beginning with the clarinet, and having performed in many concerts and pep band trips over the years. In addition to playing the clarinet, William also plays drums, ukulele, guitar, bass guitar, and is learning to play the violin. He has earned the honor of Salutatorian of the Machias Memorial High School Class of 2025, and graduates as a well-rounded student: musician, long standing member of the cross country team, and a staple on the video team. In the Fall, William will be studying Actuarial Science at University of Maine Farmington.
(Jonesport-Beals High School) - MELODY GRAY has shared her musical talents with her community as a trumpeter for Jonesport-Beals High School Veterans Day performances, as well as lending her beautiful singing voice with the National Anthem for several events. Melody learned additional music independently for a class that was performed in a solo recital, going above and beyond. In the near future, Melody will be studying Business Administration at Thomas College.
(Washington Academy) - ADA GÜNGÖR has spent his Senior year at Washington Academy as an International student from Turkey. Ada started playing drums at the age of 5, learning to read music and performing at a very high level in an orchestra back home. Ada became a fixture at the WA Music Room drum set leading the rhythm sections in both the Concert and Jazz Bands. Ada also guest-starred on the drum set with the WA Pep Band for girls’ basketball games when possible, and then running as point guard for the boys basketball team. Ada also played on the WA’s Boy’s Soccer team, helping the team win the Class C Northern Maine Championship title. He was a co-founder of the WA Indie Rock Band, the Northern Lights, and will be sorely missed as a major contributor to the highly followed group! Ada is a lover of history, and many of art and musical genres, and will be studying Art Illustration at Middlesex University in London, England at the start of next school year.
(Narraguagus High School) - ABIGAIL HOLUBRINKLE has participated in the chorus program since its return to Narraguagus Junior/Senior High School in 2022, and has shown a great passion for music. She comes to music with a curiosity that has led her to study a range of music including acapella, pop, and Gregorian chant. In addition to being a vocalist, Abigail has spent time working on her piano skills and is continuously exploring new interests in music history and ethnography. Abigail will be attending Wheaton College in the Fall as an English major, with a minor in Anthropology.
(Shead High School) - CYPHER URLAND has shared her gift of music through her participation in the Shead High School Pep band for three of her high school years. She is always singing, creating, and recording music on her own, and loves performing with her ukulele. Cypher is currently planning on attending York Community College with interests in digital art, voice acting, and music creation.
