Hello awesome artists and fans of RMG arts and artists! Did you hear???? Machias schools are expanding visual arts programming from ONE full time teacher for all of PreK-12, to TWO full time teachers (one at RMG, and one at MMHS).

This is so very exciting because it means all Machias students will have more art education!!!

This change means that I will no longer be teaching everyone. I will be transitioning to Machias Memorial High School full time in the fall.

It has been such a joy to teach, create, and get to know all the amazing artists at RMG, and I will miss being a part of the RMG family. But I am excited to grow the visual art program at MMHS and am looking forward to having a visual arts colleague at RMG!

If you or someone you know is interested in joining the RMG team as a full time art teacher, the posting can be found here.

Today’s news that RMG is switching to remote learning for all students means that art class will return to being an at home class for all artists grades K-8.

Remember how art class worked when we were in the hybrid model? It will work the exact same way in our fully remote model.

I will get more detailed information out to everyone through email tomorrow.

Art Class Changes with Green Designation
RMG students attending in person will begin having art at school on Monday, December 7. There will be no changes for remote students.

All work assigned this week on Google Classroom needs to be completed remotely. Students who are working on multi week projects that started at home will need to bring those project pieces back to school so they can continue with their projects, this is for students in grades 1, 4, 5, 6, and 7 and 8 students working on the fan art project.

If RMG returns to a Hybrid model, art class will once again happen remotely.

Happy Thanksgiving!!! I'm thankful for all the amazing young artists and their rockstar adult helpers. Our situation this year is less than perfect, but we're trying our best.

Seeing student’s artwork always brings me so much joy. I love how every artist's personality comes through in their art. Here are just a few of the turkeys that were made by Kindergarten and Grade 1 artists this week.

Hello Artists and Adults! Now that RMG is in a hybrid model of learning, art class is one of the classes happening on student remote days. A lot of logistical information has been shared in Art Google Classrooms and through the RMG Weekly Principals message. Let me know if you have questions!

Artists, make sure you check your art google classroom every week for new lessons. The weekday that lessons post varies by grade.

The sketchbooks I ordered for students finally arrived!! In person students will get theirs this week from homeroom teachers. Remote students, I’ll be emailing you to make arrangements. Sketchbooks can stay at home and will provide all students art paper to use for their projects.

I miss being in the classroom with everyone, but I am LOVING seeing everyone’s artwork through google classroom. Keep up the great work artists! You’re doing awesome.

This looks like a fun opportunity for young artists!

🖍 ✏️ ✂️ 🌈 🎨 Art Supply List for K-8!!!

Art this year is going to look a little different because we can’t share supplies, and we won’t be in the art room. The supply list probably has items that you already have or are already on your back to school list.

Pencils/eraser/sharpener
Scissors
Glue—any kind
Crayons
Colored pencils—grades 3-8
Optional—markers
Optional—permanent black marker

If you are getting a small handheld pencil sharpener, consider one that has 2 holes, the small one can be used for pencils and the larger hole can be used with crayons....this is a great way to refresh lightly used crayons. From experience, students love using a freshly sharpened crayon. 🖍

I’m hoping to supplement this list with sketchbooks, watercolor paints (if you want to have an extra set for home that would be ok), and a few other fun extras.

Looking forward to a great year!!!!
❤️ Mrs. Lee

Note: you don’t need extra supplies for art class, if your artist’s classroom teacher supply list has these items on it already, those same supplies can be used for art class. 🙂

Hello to RMG families and friends. Here is some preliminary framework about back to school this fall. Although I don’t know exactly what school will look like this fall, I am excited to get back to teaching art!

🌧 🎨 Rainy days are perfect for staying in and being creative! This project is inspired by American artist, Jasper Johns! This was a project shared with the 2nd Grade classes this spring.

I made my samples with numbers, but you could also use letters, words, shapes and more! Have fun creating and enjoy the rain!! ❤️ Mrs Lee

Calling all young artists! Portland Museum of Art is looking for artwork to display. See information and link in the post!

Calling all teens, kids, and wee little tikes! We have a hunch that you’ve been busy making artworks of your own, and we want to see them! Are you the next Katherine Bradford, Daniel Minter, or Richard Estes? Perhaps you’re more inspired by Isamu Noguchi, Lauren Fensterstock, or Leonardo Drew? W...
