Tony Jenkins and the City of Mabank Public Works crew worked countless hours in the Texas heat to make sure the grounds and arena were in top-notch condition. From long days under the sun to early mornings and late nights, they quietly tackled the work that most people never see, but everyone benefits from. Their dedication and pride in our community did not go unnoticed.

But Tony’s contributions didn’t stop there.

Alongside his wife, Barb, Tony also led this year’s Mabank Rodeo Queen Contest. Together, they spent evenings, weekends, and countless hours recruiting contestants, coordinating details, and intentionally building what many have said was the stoutest Queen competition we’ve ever had. Every detail was thoughtfully planned, and it showed. The professionalism, horsemanship, and quality of this year’s program were a direct reflection of the time and heart they invested.

Tony and Barb, thank you for leading by example and for giving so much of yourselves to our rodeo. Your willingness to serve, often behind the scenes, helps preserve the traditions we all love while making them even better for the next generation.

We’re already back at it and getting ready to serve you even bigger and better. Planning is officially underway for the 72nd Annual Mabank Rodeo, and we can’t wait to bring our community another year of rodeo action, western traditions, family fun, and unforgettable memories.

Since the dust has settled from the 71st Annual Mabank Rodeo, it’s time to recognize some of the people who worked tirelessly behind the scenes to make it all happen.

Have you ever met someone and wondered, how do they do it all? That’s Kim McClaskey.

Kim is the kind of person who sees what needs to be done and has already done it before anyone else even realizes it needed attention. While most people see her everywhere during rodeo week, what they don’t see are the countless behind-the-scenes tasks she takes on without hesitation.

She’s the one picking up trash beneath the bleachers, cleaning out drink machines before they go back out so they’re fresh and ready to serve, staying until the very last thing is done each night, and counting T-shirt inventory at 10:00 PM before leaving town the next morning, just to make sure everything is taken care of.

And somehow, she does it all with a smile on her face while still handling the responsibilities of her actual job.

Kim is a constant for the Mabank Rodeo, and her dedication, work ethic, and willingness to do whatever is needed never go unnoticed.

Thank you, Kim, for everything you do.

Now that the dust has settled from the 71st Annual Mabank Rodeo, it’s time to give some recognition where it’s due.

Over the next few weeks, we’ll be spotlighting committee members who went above and beyond to help make this year’s rodeo a success.

First up is Scott Tuley.

Most people know Scott as the man in front of the camera, the one keeping everyone entertained on social media, sporting a flashy sport coat, and always wearing a smile. But behind the scenes, Scott is a true pillar of our community with a heart of gold.

As a Henderson County Commissioner and small business owner, he is always willing to step up and help wherever he’s needed. He’s often one of the first to ask, “What can I do?” and one of the last to leave. Whether it’s taking on a task outside his comfort zone or joining in on Choosin’ Texas or the Thunderstruck dance (if you know, you know), Scott never hesitates when it comes to supporting the rodeo.

His willingness to serve, positive attitude, and dedication to our community do not go unnoticed.

Thank you, Scott, for everything you do. The Mabank Rodeo is stronger because of people like you, and we’re grateful to have you on our team.
