Kickball V 2.0
So last year we had some fun with adult Kickball, at least I think we did.
But for this year I think we're going to change things up a bit! This year were going to try....
ADULTS Vs. KIDS!!!!
Adults will be defined as anyone over the age of 18.
Im not sure if there should be a minimum age for kids yet, maybe 8? We can all vote on that though.
Also we are going to play on a weekend during the afternoon this time instead of at night. We'll also have to find a place to place since there is little league and I think softball happening currently. But we'll work all that out once we get all the players together.
I'm thinking some time in June, and unfortunately I won't be able to play, at all. I'll still be going through recovery. So I will be one of the referees. I want to get another volunteer referee to help out on the calls.
I'm also working on a good set of rules to keep things fair. I'm thinking something like this:
1. Outs are on the pitchers mound OR at first base. So you can either throw the ball to the pitcher, who must be on the mound (at the referees discretion) or you can touch first base while holding the ball. As in baseball though, you can also tag the base a runner is running to if it's a force out, or tag the runner themselves if you catch them between bases.
2. There will be 6 innings. The adults will be the visitors while the kids will be the home team, this will give them the final "at bat" during the game.
3. The adults are limited to 3 runs per inning. Once they score 3 runs, their half of the inning is over. This will keep them from scoring too many runs in a game. HOWEVER, at the referees discretion this number can change. If we find that the kids are scoring 4-5 run every inning we will up the adults to that same amount. We want to keep everything as fair as possible for each team.
4. Everyone plays. So if more that 9 kids show up, they'll be able to put more people in the field. And bat more people in their line up. Same with the adults. Everyone plays, everyone has fun.
5. The rules can and may change at any time. These are open to debate and the will of the people.
The goal is to have FUN!!!! Nothing else matters. If you're going to take this too seriously, don't play, please. I want everyone to enjoy themselves and want to do this again.
I'll also be looking for donations in the forms of snacks. Something simple. Chips, candy bars, juice boys, (NO ALCOHOL, SORRY), soda, etc. Whatever you think both the adults and kids would enjoy during/after a game.
Anyway anyone wants to volunteer and help would be great. We could use someone to keep score and what inning were in and such. If you think you want to help, let me know. We can figure out a way to get you involved.
I'll be looking at Saturday or Sunday afternoons in June to set up this game. And possibly doing it again in both July and August. I have other ideas of things to do but I wanted to get this out there so everyone knows I'm still serious about running more things this year.
I also would like to do some Glowstick tag again this year and we'll do the Halloween 5K again. I this we did pretty well with that. If anyone has any other ideas, please let me know. I'd love to work with you to get more things for the kids and adults to get together to do.
I also believe that a weekend or evening walking club will be starting up again soon also. That's my wife's baby so we'll work with her to get it up and running again.
Thank everyone for making last year incredible and I'm hoping this year works out even better!
