I'm thinking of holding another 5k this year on the weekend before Halloween. Would anyone be interested in doing something like that? It would be either the 28th or 29th in the morning (ish).

Let me know what you think!

I think this yer is going to be a bust.

With all my medical issues and my lack of employment it rough to do these things.

I may try to throw together a few things before the end of the year (especially the 5k around the park!) and maybe a glow stick tag gsme. Possibly if there's enough interest I could run a kickball game.

Thanks for understanding everyone. Once I get back on my feet physically, mentally, and financially, I *will* becoming back with a vengeance. :)

I'm looking to find someone to help take over DigitalFreeze Entertainment. With everything I have going on in my life right now, I cannot put as much time towards this as I would like.

But at the same time, I do not want it to go away. I can continue to offer support in the way of ideas and the such, but I cannot spend enough time running things and posting things.

So, I need to find someone who is local to Lyons's and is as dedicated as I am to making the village more than it currently is.

Is anyone up to the task? Let me know. I'll consider multiple people if I feel they could work well together.

Kickball V 2.0

So last year we had some fun with adult Kickball, at least I think we did.

But for this year I think we're going to change things up a bit! This year were going to try....

ADULTS Vs. KIDS!!!!

Adults will be defined as anyone over the age of 18.

Im not sure if there should be a minimum age for kids yet, maybe 8? We can all vote on that though.

Also we are going to play on a weekend during the afternoon this time instead of at night. We'll also have to find a place to place since there is little league and I think softball happening currently. But we'll work all that out once we get all the players together.

I'm thinking some time in June, and unfortunately I won't be able to play, at all. I'll still be going through recovery. So I will be one of the referees. I want to get another volunteer referee to help out on the calls.

I'm also working on a good set of rules to keep things fair. I'm thinking something like this:

1. Outs are on the pitchers mound OR at first base. So you can either throw the ball to the pitcher, who must be on the mound (at the referees discretion) or you can touch first base while holding the ball. As in baseball though, you can also tag the base a runner is running to if it's a force out, or tag the runner themselves if you catch them between bases.
2. There will be 6 innings. The adults will be the visitors while the kids will be the home team, this will give them the final "at bat" during the game.
3. The adults are limited to 3 runs per inning. Once they score 3 runs, their half of the inning is over. This will keep them from scoring too many runs in a game. HOWEVER, at the referees discretion this number can change. If we find that the kids are scoring 4-5 run every inning we will up the adults to that same amount. We want to keep everything as fair as possible for each team.
4. Everyone plays. So if more that 9 kids show up, they'll be able to put more people in the field. And bat more people in their line up. Same with the adults. Everyone plays, everyone has fun.
5. The rules can and may change at any time. These are open to debate and the will of the people.

The goal is to have FUN!!!! Nothing else matters. If you're going to take this too seriously, don't play, please. I want everyone to enjoy themselves and want to do this again.

I'll also be looking for donations in the forms of snacks. Something simple. Chips, candy bars, juice boys, (NO ALCOHOL, SORRY), soda, etc. Whatever you think both the adults and kids would enjoy during/after a game.

Anyway anyone wants to volunteer and help would be great. We could use someone to keep score and what inning were in and such. If you think you want to help, let me know. We can figure out a way to get you involved.

I'll be looking at Saturday or Sunday afternoons in June to set up this game. And possibly doing it again in both July and August. I have other ideas of things to do but I wanted to get this out there so everyone knows I'm still serious about running more things this year.

I also would like to do some Glowstick tag again this year and we'll do the Halloween 5K again. I this we did pretty well with that. If anyone has any other ideas, please let me know. I'd love to work with you to get more things for the kids and adults to get together to do.

I also believe that a weekend or evening walking club will be starting up again soon also. That's my wife's baby so we'll work with her to get it up and running again.

Thank everyone for making last year incredible and I'm hoping this year works out even better!

Hey everyone!

So here's the thing... I've herniated a disc in my back, yet again. I'm scheduled for surgery next month and then recovery.

What does this mean for this group? Not much good right now. I need to take it easy on my back for a while until the surgery and then take it easy after the surgery.

I'm still going to try and get some things going, but I'm not going to be able to participate in anything for quite a while.

It's going to take a little extra time for me to get things going, but we'll get there. Bear with me while I go through this surgery and recovery. We will be back and better than ever.

Wow it got colder and it looks like it's going to stay this way for a little while.

Once it starts getting warmer I'll start planning some things.

This isn't my fault yet, blame mother nature! :)

Hey folks! Spring is in full affect and the weather is looking nicer. Maybe we should have some fun?!

Anyone interested in some Glowstick tag?

Maybe some kickball?

Let me know and I'll set them up!

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

We wanted to wish a happy turkey day to everyone of our supporters. Without you guys and gals we wouldn't be able to do what we do.

Some of you support us through Facebook, some show up at every event big or small, some donate to the cause! We're thankful for everyone of you.

Hope you have a great day today and eat so much turkey you slip into a coma on the couch!

Tell you what, here's a small contest for "Pride on Prize" (so, the winner, as chosen by me gets the pride of knowing they are the winner!)

Take a photo of your family members passed out on the couch. Tomorrow I'll go through them all and pick the best one. That one gets to be on the cover page for a week. Or until I remember to change it. :)

So get out there, eat some turkey and snap some photos everyone!

Hi everyone! I just wanted to drop a message so you didn't think I forgot about you.

With the holidays happening, I felt it was time to take a little break and spend some time with family.

I still have future ideas - especially when we get some snow!

I'd like to have a huge snowball fight when we get some snow! Out in smith park - everyone could get together and throw snowballs at each other. Very simple - but sounds like fun.

Also, I want to have either a snowman competition or Christmas decoration competition. Maybe both. You could sign up to have everything judged by a certain date and time. Everyone would be judged by a 3rd party and there would be prizes involved!

This spring I'll have a lot more things planned to do outdoors also! I'd like to get together with a few people someday this winter and try and plan some things out. I think with more people we'll be able to plan out more things.

Ok. Thanks for listening to me everyone. I'll get back to you with more info on the things I'm planning for the winter once we get some snow!

Just wanted to give a follow-up and a thank you to everyone who came out to the 5k today! For the first annual event, I...

Just wanted to give a follow-up and a thank you to everyone who came out to the 5k today! For the first annual event, I think we did great!

We will be doing this again next year - but maybe with less candy... unless we can get more kids involved! We had a lot of candy, but only 1 toddler - who didn't eat much candy, it was odd. :)

Here's a list of the participants:

Jennifer L
Leonore L
Christine and Payton M
Dianna G
Remy G
Carol P
Pam S
Lynn P
Lisa C
Benji

We also had a few 4 legged friends come along for the walk!

Zeus, Buddy, Rudy and Gilbert!

Congrats to Dianna and Carol for being the first two to finish the entire 5k! They decided to finish at the same time and share the prize.

Also, a BIG congrats goes out to Benji for finishing the 5k in the fastest time! I have a total of 37 minutes! WOW!

I have other photos and I'll be putting them up soon! If you have photos, please feel free to post them here for everyone to see!

10/29/2016

Many thanks to everyone (both 2 and 4 legged participants!) who came out for the 5k in Smith Park today! It was great to see you and we had a lot of fun. :)
