Hello Friends,
After 29 years of taking care of your photography needs, I am excited to let you know that on August 1st we transferred the ownership of Magic Photo/Sunset Photo to its new owners, David Frank who will manage and business partner and co-owner Jeremy Wingfield. They are rebranding my beloved lab and studio as PHOTO HQ and soon for film developing, WeDevelopFilm.com.
Longtime photographic partner and co-conspirator, David will be familiar to you as we have partnered for over 15 years on event photography projects such as school and sports photography, our Edmonds Downtown Santa, and most recently, working with me daily at Magic Photo and Sunset Photo for the last three years. David and Jeremy are committed to maintaining all the services and quality you have come to expect. Also, it’s “back to the future” as they continue the tradition of color, and black and white film developing, fully embracing the amazing resurgence of film photography.
I have owned and operated Magic Photo since the fall of 1995. This retail opportunity came about as a natural extension of my experience working in photography, advertising, graphic design and printing. In addition, an expertise in retail and marketing management has given me an opportunity to transform what was once a traditional photo lab, into an imaging destination. I have worked relentlessly to transcend film and chemistry to feature the latest in digital technology and product offerings. My drive to innovate and be creative was incorporated into every aspect of my business and also served to inspire my clients to new creative heights. Although technology is fun to use, my customers have always been at the heart of my business. My passion has been to work together to find the solutions for the preservation and display of life’s cherished moments. The results show in loyal client relationships, repeat business and great referrals. Although it is always challenging, I love the photo industry because I believe in all the opportunities for lasting memories that it gives us.
My goal was to create the complete photo imaging center and I believe it was a success. Over the last 29 years, Magic Photo/Sunset Photo has grown to be a premier full-service event/portrait studio and a retail photofinishing community resource. I have worked with our staff every day to provide our customers with an increasing range of services from professional photography to scanning, archiving, gifting and printing. I enjoyed the challenge to continue to innovate new products and services in order to encourage our customers to do something meaningful with their memories. I have integrated creative solutions that are on the forefront of the photographic lifestyle industry and used by many of the world's most successful photo labs and professional photographers. The staff and I are enthusiastic, fun and energetic individuals that worked together with our clients as a team to provide exceptional customer service and foster innovative photographic ideas.
Although no longer the owner, I have been asked to stay on in a new role as Technical Director continuing to innovate new and old technology as well as give some advice now and then. I hope to help “Photo HQ” insure they have everything needed to be successful. You can still find me at the new Photo HQ on Sunset Avenue, as well at catch up with me as I volunteer and occasionally, on a run through Edmonds.
I am grateful for my team members-past and present, for my family who even dressed as elves to help during the holiday rush, for all of our customers who have become friends and supported us through the years, for the local business connections I’ve made, and the communities of Edmonds, Shoreline, Woodway and beyond. Thank you all for trusting me with your memories.
And finally, the biggest excitement of all is that I won’t find myself doing sales tax reports until the last minute every 25th of each month!
