Huge thank you to everyone who braved the cold and snow to come support the start of the show!

If you couldn’t make it to the opening, the entire exhibit will be up until January 31st! Photos never do artwork the justice they deserve… I hope you’ll get the chance to see the show in person by the end of the month!

Every single painting is also available for sale through the galleries website. I’ll put the link to it in my bio.

Also, a huge thanks goes to Ted and A’Nyeja at the for their thoughtful curation of yet another beautifully arranged show and all the other behind the scenes work that they do!

Huge thanks to my loving and supportive family and Fiancé for their countless prayers and encouragement.

But the most important thanks belongs to God for the opportunity and steady guiding hand through the challenging endeavor of creating all these paintings. The show would not have been possible without Him.

Show Opens Tonight!

Academy Center of the Arts

It will be featured along with more than 40 of my latest paintings starting tonight at 5pm.

I would like to thank God for my wonderful family and the opportunities He has given to me. The last several months of preparation for this show have been a real concerted effort.
I wanted to remain faithful to the abilities God has given me, but it has been a real test of faith, as it has drawn me away from making what I consider “a sure income” as Amanda and I get closer to our wedding. Trusting in His plan is not always easy, but: “we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.” Romans‬ ‭8‬:‭28‬ ‭ESV‬‬

Jesus is the GOAT. He saved my life when I didn’t deserve it. I still don’t deserve it. Blessed to be able to celebrate his birthday this year with my family. God is Good.

“Fall Shadows” (Blue Ridge Parkway)

While our mountains on the East Coast don’t have as dramatic a shift in form as the West, and therefore less diversity in shadows (especially during the day), you can wait until around sunset, when the shapes become more exaggerated with stronger light vs. shadow. This is when I like to paint our mountains the most; because it’s easier to model an object and indicate shape and size when there’s a light and dark side present.

If I’m being honest, I like to pretend our “mountains” are huge, but I know they dwarf in comparison to the stuff out west. But that’s where artistic liberty and imagination come into play. Why not have fun and try to make our Blue Ridge Mountains look striking and grandiose.

“Natural Bridge”

“Once owned by Thomas Jefferson and listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the 215-foot tall Natural Bridge is a limestone gorge carved out by Cedar Creek.” https://www.virginia.org/listing/natural-bridge-state-park/6251/amp/

Super cool Spot. The towering height and dramatic contrast of the sunlight against the limestone arch inspired this painting. Definitely worth the trip if you haven’t been before.

This small gem along with 40+ paintings of mine will be for sale during the month of January at the Academy Center of the Arts in Lynchburg, VA. The opening of the show will be Friday, January 3rd.
