Known as one of the most accomplished violinists of his generation, David Chan is also quickly making a name for himself as an elegant conductor of unusual interpretive depth. After 25 seasons as concertmaster of New York’s legendary Metropolitan Opera Orchestra, he now serves as Artistic Director of the Taipei Music Academy and Festival, one of the world’s preeminent educational festivals; as Principal Conductor of the Apollo Orchestra in the Washington, D.C. area; and as Director of the Credo Festival, an orchestral training institute held annually in Chicago’s Symphony Center. He was previously Music Director of the APEX Ensemble, with which he earned high praise for innovative and adventurous programming, and Music Director of Camerata Notturna.

At MasterWorks we make it a point to stream every live concert to our YouTube channel. A lot goes on behind the scenes to make sure we bring a level of excellence even to what is viewed and heard from home. During orchestra concerts, we have one person constantly following along with the score to call ahead which instruments need shots. Another person controls up to 6 robo cameras at once, and the other cuts between different camera angles, all to bring together a final product.

Recognized for his “musical sensitivity” and “energized sense of interpretation”, Matthew Kraemer is quickly making his mark among American conductors for his inspired performances and versatility. The Buffalo News notes, “He presents a tall, dignified and stately podium presence with a quite clear beat, a good sense of shaping melodic lines, and an all- business attitude that focused on the music without any histrionics.” Mr. Kraemer begins his third season as the Adelaide Wisdom Benjamin Music Director of the Louisiana Philharmonic in September, 2025.
