Every time we see this flag waving over the fairgrounds, we pause.
Since the first Hamburg Fair in 1887, our country has endured many conflicts — and through each one, brave men and women have served and sacrificed so we could gather in peace.
We honor them.
Wars witnessed since our fair began:
• Spanish-American War (1898)
• World War I (1914–1918, U.S. entered 1917)
• World War II (1939–1945, U.S. entered 1941)
• Korean War (1950–1953)
• Vietnam War (1955–1975)
• Gulf War (1990–1991)
• War in Afghanistan (2001–2021)
• Iraq War (2003–2011)
• Ongoing service in global conflicts and peacekeeping missions
This year marks our 122nd fair. We’re proud to carry forward a tradition that’s older than many of the flags that have flown over these fairgrounds.
On this Memorial Day, we remember. We honor. We are grateful.

The Hamburg Fair Features Top Local Musicians and Traditional Fair Favorites The 2020 Hamburg Fair has been cancelled. We look forward to welcoming you back to the fair in 2021!
Carnival rides, animal exhibits, food concessions, pony rides, oxen-pull, crafts, kids games and top local musicians are among the favorite attractions for visitors attending the annual Hamburg Fair, now celebrating their 118th year. Hosted by The Lyme Grange, the fair takes place rain or shine Friday August 16th 5pm-10:30pm, Saturday August 17th 9am-10:30pm and Sunday August 18th 9am -6pm at 1 Sterling City Road, Lyme, CT (located at the intersection of Rt. 156 and across from Reynolds’ Subaru).
General admission to the fair is $7 per person, kids up to age 12 are free. Senior Citizens and Active Service men and women $5/person (ID required). Tickets are available for purchase at the entrance and free parking is offered on and nearby the site.
The three day family friendly fair showcases many agricultural fair traditions including entries and exhibits for farm, animal, crafts, fruits, vegetables and more. The intimate size of the fair makes for easy navigation, parking and crowd control. Young fairgoers will enjoy kids games offered on Saturday which often include a watermelon eating contest, face painting, 3-legged race and prize winning contests.
Free on-stage music talent and entertainment is a growing Hamburg Fair highlight. From country to pop, fiddlers to funk, there is something for everyone who enjoys live music. The fair kicks off Friday evening music with performances in the amphitheater from country music. See many local young artists hosted by Music Now and Nightingale’s Showcase on Saturday afternoon, followed by local headliners Saturday evening. Sunday afternoon concludes with the tradition of bluegrass and fiddling by the Old Time Fiddlers.
