A close up of one of my favourite swirly pieces! 1 Chronicles 16:11 from David’s song of thanks. Currently have just one print available in my Etsy 🎉

David’s song of thanks after bringing the ark back to Jerusalem is a beautiful example of David consistently seeking God’s face. The more that we seek God and grow in Him, the more we realise that our strength in in Him!⠀

Seeking God’s face means desiring to know His character and wanting His presence in our lives more than anything else.⠀

‘Draw near to God and He will draw near to you.’ (James 4:8)⠀

This sketch for Ephesians 2:8 has been a work in progress on and off for a few months now!

This chapter makes it so clear - ’We were dead in the trespasses and sins that we once walked in’...but God who loves us and is rich in mercy gave us the gift of grace! A gift! ⠀

A gift that we did not deserve, yet Christ filled with obedience and love for his Father gave his life! ⠀

Therefore we do not do good works so that we may be saved - instead, it means, we are saved so that we may do good works. ⠀

Why? So that these good works demonstrate this grace to others! Do I, in faith, bear witness to God’s grace that we have received through His son?

Rather than pasting in the entire chapter of Ephesians 2, here is Romans 1:1-6. ⠀

'Paul, a servant of Christ Jesus, called to be an apostle, set apart for the gospel of God, which he promised beforehand through his prophets in the holy Scriptures, concerning his Son, who was descended from David according to the flesh and was declared to be the Son of God in power according to the Spirit of holiness by his resurrection from the dead, Jesus Christ our Lord, through whom we have received grace and apostleship to bring about the obedience of faith for the sake of his name among all the nations, including you who are called to belong to Jesus Christ.’

It’s been a while since I’ve shared one of the prints I have available in my Etsy shop! Here’s a favourite - Nehemiah 8:10. Joy that gives us strength!

When the law of God was read for the people so that they would understand, they mourned, realizing their own sinfulless and how much they had neglected Gods word. Nehemiah, however, instructed the people not to mourn or grieve, because ’the joy of the Lord is your strength’.⠀

I love the examples within Matthew 15 of things lost then found and God’s joy in reconnecting with the found and ’repentant’. ⠀

The people of Isarel were overwhelmed and repentant, but Nehemiah and Ezra knew they needed more reminding, of hope and of joy that comes from repentance.⠀

We need this too! Our knowledge of our sin should never overwhelm our knowledge of Jesus as our saviour and God as the giver of grace. The joy of God is our foundation. The joy of knowing what God has done for us through Christ for us to be forgiven - this is our strength.

The first half of one of my favourite verses – Psalm 36 verse 7.

This word love ‘hesed’ here is also translated as kindness and lovingkindness. The main difference from the agape love in the New Testament being that this is a love formed in the bonds of a covenant - between God and His covenant people Israel.

Hesed is based on obedience, but agape is founded in grace. Agape love, self-sacrificial love, is the standard of love that Jesus commanded us to show each other when He said “This is my commandment: love one another as I have loved you.”

And how did Jesus love us? Look at the overwhelming and deep love that God had in sending His son and that Christ had in sacrificing his life for us! ⠀

What greater love is there than this?? How are we showing this in our lives?? I could express my failures to reach these ideals in every post, but rather I will leave with this - today we have an opportunity to lay down our lives, our selfishness for the sake of Christ. This is our invitation to love ❤️

1 Corinthians 17:14. Agape. Not an emotion, but an action, a choice.

Among Paul’s final instructions to the Corinthians in his first letter, is this: “let all that you do, be done in love’. When I first starting putting this piece together, the word that stood out, you’ll remember, was ALL?? All.

A few chapters earlier Paul warns against doing anything without love, writing "And if I give all my possessions to feed the poor, and if I surrender my body to be burned, but do not have love, it profits me nothing." (1 Cor 13:3).

“Be watchful, stand firm in the faith, act like men, be strong. Let all that you do be done in love.”

This love is how we can be recognised as children of God! Does the way you treat others show that you love God? This verse has been filling my mind and it’s so easy for me right now to focus on all the ways I fail to meet this. How I constantly act on whatever emotion I am feeling before working to put agape on. If that’s you too, you’re not alone!

Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.”

Do everything in love. No qualifiers. No exceptions. This is how we glorify others and led them to also glorify Him.

James 1:12.

But what does this quote even mean?? ⠀

The full verse is as follows ‘Blessed is the man who remains steadfast under trial, for when he has stood the test he will receive the crown of life, which God has promised to those who love him.’ ⠀

Sometimes, it may take a while before we understand or appreciate a trial that is before us, if ever. Something that is particularly hard for those of us that have patience in short supply (guilty!!!) But if we allow faith to work patience and ask for the wisdom of understanding, we can maintain our trust in God and the hope that is before us. ⠀

This promise God made, is to those who love Him and his son. To those who obey Him and look for the return of His son! ⠀

This life does not have anything lasting to offer, but to those who live by faith, we are promised a crown of life! ⠀

Therefore ‘repent, and let every one of you is baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins.’ (Acts 2:28). God's promises are true 💕 and once you begin to appreciate the hope that God sets before us in His Word, you will want to know how to lay hold of it!

Psalm 46:10. In a beautiful chapter that begins and ends with ’God is our refuge’ lies this verse.

How often do we ask God for things but don't sit still and listen? In a world that is constantly chaotic and changing do we take that time to meditate and listen to God?

This week I want to remember to work on my relationship with God by remembering who He is, listening, taking refuge in Him and being still ❤️

Originally created , here is 1 Thessalonians 5:11 - one of the few pieces I do actually have on display in our home.

I love this section of scripture. It talks about the time of our Lord’s return and how we, as children of light are to be prepared for that day. ⠀

To watch for that day. ⠀

To encourage each other and build each other up that we might all obtain salvation through the Lord Jesus Christ! Please let me know - how can I encourage you? ⠀

Are you abounding in hope? (If not, give me a dm!) here’s a fun version of Romans 15:13 - a verse I’ve wanted to letter for quite some time.

“May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope.”

Does this not ultimately sum up God’s purpose in this world for humanity? God has not left us to face the struggles of life alone. His purpose is for us and the whole earth to be filled with His glory, to be in His image and likeness. That is our hope, and that is the hope of the world ❤️

Thanks to and & for putting together the and getting me to think more on this verse!

Enjoying looking back on this series! Why do you think it is important to learn the names of God?

Each name reveals a different aspect of His character, nature and attributes. They describe what He does, how He acts and how He moves in our lives. If we are to manifest God and have a relationship with Him through His son, of course we need to know all He teaches us about Him!

In Exodus 15, God gives Himself a new name. The Israelites had been living in slavery in Egypt for generations and when they were finally led out every trial overwhelmed them. At this point, they were overcome with thirst and just as they found water, discovered it was bitter and undrinkable. When they complained to Moses, Moses cried to God for help and God answered!

God needed them to know that He is the God that heals. Or as the word meanings indicate, it is almost more accurate to say God expresses ‘healing is what I am!’ ⠀

The people of Israel had bitterness in their hearts, much like the bitter water they drank and from this they needed healing. ⠀

Fortunately, God longed to heal them. He IS healing! Let’s turn to our God and our Messiah for the healing we need. Like it is said of the son of God in Isaiah ‘through his wounds we are healed’.

Have a friend that needs to hear the reassuring words of our saviour? 🗣

Matthew 11:28. I love this entire section! ⠀⠀

Weariness and heavy burdens. We all experience both. ⠀⠀
⠀⠀
Jesus invites all that follow him to accept the share in his rest. To come into His Father’s kingdom, (Matthew 25:34).⠀

We can only find rest in this hope.⠀ ⠀

Revelation 21:3-4 ‘And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Look! God’s dwelling place is now among the people, and he will dwell with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God. ‘He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death’ or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.” He who was seated on the throne said, “I am making everything new’⠀⠀
