Hi there. I'd like to take a moment to introduce myself to the group. My name is Ashley and I'm a 37 year old small business owner in St Charles Parish. Despite facing incredible challenges, I remain resilient and determined. In 2019 I became very ill very quickly and had to be hospitalized for a very long time, ultimately receiving a liver transplant that gave me a second chance at life. I then started to have trouble with my kidneys and was hospitalized in late 2020, fortunately, I was able to receive a kidney transplant as well. The last year of my family's life has been pretty chaotic, but we've learned to find strength in the midst of adversity. A wonderful man, my father, passed away from lung cancer, but his memory lives on in our hearts. Right before he passed away, my brother had a massive heart attack, but thankfully, he's on the road to recovery. And as things go, I have been hospitalized again, learning that my transplant kidney isn't functioning quite the way we would like, but I remain hopeful for a positive outcome.
