The music starts before the curtain rises. 🎶

Today, American Patchwork Quartet joined 60 SCPPS students for a workshop celebrating creativity, collaboration, and the musical traditions that shape their sound. Students created art pieces inspired by APQ's music that will be sewn together to create quilts for display in our lobby.

Students from the Satellite Center’s Interactive Media class were there capturing footage for a class project: creating a social media post for our accounts. Check back over the next week to see their work!

This is what Arts Education. Center Stage. is all about.

✈️ From the Lafon to Milwaukee, and who knows what might come back with us?

Ned and Tara traveled to the Midwest Arts Expo Booking Conference this week, where performing arts presenters connect with artists and discover possibilities for future seasons.

Why does that matter? Here’s a great example: American Patchwork Quartet.

Our team first discovered APQ at the APAP conference in New York in 2024. Now, two years later, they’re about to take the Lafon stage!

Booking conferences are where conversations begin, connections are made and future seasons start taking shape.

So while our team is in Milwaukee, they’ll be watching, listening and imagining what could be next for the Lafon. 👀🎭

And in the meantime…we’ll see you next week for American Patchwork Quartet!

🎨 Now on view at the Lafon Arts Center: the first SCPPS Faculty Art Show!

They spend their days inspiring creativity in the classroom—now, we’re putting the spotlight on their creativity.

The SCPPS Faculty Art Show features artwork created by art educators from across St. Charles Parish Public Schools, giving our community a chance to discover the artists behind the classrooms and celebrate their work.
