Having a ton of fun working on blocking for God of Carnage by Yasmina Reza which goes up in July at Faith Chapel Gathering Place (tickets on sale now!). This was one of the first shows we read in the first session of our CRAFT Contemporary Play Reading Club. It’s such a wonderful script to get to spend more time with and really dig into. Nearly every single line of the show has some hidden meaning or double entendre, it’s giving our actors so many varied options to play with. For every joke we caught reading through the show together in a casual setting we’re finding at least two more actually applying the script to the stage and working through it. You won’t want to miss this show!

What begins as a polite conversation between two sets of parents quickly unravels into something far more dangerous—and far more entertaining.

After a playground incident between their sons, four well-meaning adults gather to resolve things like civilized people. But as wine flows and tempers flare, civility cracks. Old grievances surface, alliances shift, and the thin veneer of “good manners” gives way to raw, hilarious, and sometimes shocking honesty.

Fast, biting, and explosively funny, God of Carnage is a razor-sharp comedy about what happens when we stop pretending to be polite—and start telling the truth.

“A hysterical night of name-calling, tantrums and tears.” — Broadway.com

“Comic perfection… slapstick humor expertly rendered.” — The Hollywood Reporter

Huge thanks to all actors who came out to audition for God of Carnage - we’ve found our cast!

A playground altercation between two boys brings two sets of parents together for a meeting to resolve the matter. At first diplomatic niceties are observed, but as the meeting progresses...and the rum flows...tensions emerge and the gloves come off, leaving the couples with more than just their liberal principles in tatters.

This Tony-Award winning play takes the stage at Faith Chapel Gathering Place for All in pastoral Lucketts, VA. Produced by CRAFT Theatre Company, Directed by Vanessa Borg, Stage Managed by René Koch. A cast of talented local actors bring these tense and comedic characters to life, including:

Alan Raleigh - Gregory Lygon
Annette Raleigh - Jul Taylor
Michael Novak - Belol Nessar
Veronica Novak - Betsy Muratore

Our play reading club from a few weeks ago. The cohort had a great time seeing The World to Come at Woolly Mammoth Theatre Company. Our new cohort starts on Thursday night, but we’re giving you more options this time around -

🎭 Option One: Sign up for all six months of play reading club meet-ups, bring a friend each month for free, AND get tickets for our field trip show we go see at the end of the session. ($165)

🎭 Option Two: Sign up month by month to attend only when you know you can make it, does not include +1 for free or field trip at end of session. ($15 + Eventbrite fees per each month)

If you think you don’t like (or just don’t get) absurdist theatre the show we’re reading this week will completely change your mind. Smokefall is a beautiful play that looks at the way trauma shapes a family over multiple generations. Truly comedic moments mix with revelations about human connection on both intimate and cosmic levels. You won’t regret joining us for this read.

So honored to have been able to play a small role in the ensemble that brought to life in its first fully-staged iteration as part of Intersections Festival. Huge congratulations to the entire cast and crew!!!

This show is full of struggle and heart and overflowing with q***r joy (also amazing musica by ‼️). My favorite scene is when Frida learns to make nice with her inner monster and she and Joanie get in the bath and blow bubbles together, such a beautiful moment. Keep an eye out for this piece in whatever form it takes next - be it full-length musical production or short film set to music - you won’t want to miss it!
