Cefiro: Enlace hispano cultural y literario Céfiro is a graduate student organization affiliated with the Spanish Department in Classical and Modern Languages and Literatures at Texas Tech University.

We invite all graduate students of Spanish and Portuguese at Tech to join us. Each fall we organize a cultural event, inviting members of CMLL to share information about their countries, for the department. Céfiro also is responsible for conducting an academic conference each spring, an event that has drawn participants from around the world. In addition, we publish a journal each year and invite submissions in English, Spanish and Portuguese.

Céfiro is proud to announce its upcoming 17th Annual Conference on Latin American and Iberian Languages, Literatures, and Cultures - "Identity, Border, and Exile / Identidad, Frontera y Exilio." It will take place on Texas Tech campus, April 1 & 2.

Céfiro: Enlace hispano cultural y literario and the Department of Classical & Modern Literatures & Cultures are proud to host the 16th annual Céfiro Conference on Latin American and Iberian Languages, Literatures, and Cultures, which will be held on March 26-28, 2015.
The upcoming Conference will honor the outstanding contribution Dr. Janet Pérez has made to literary criticism as well as to the lives of the many students, collaborators, and colleagues she worked with throughout her renowned career.
The keynote speakers for the Conference are:
- Dr. Genaro Pérez, Texas Tech University
- Dr. Gonzalo Navajas, University of California, Irvine
- Dr. Frieda H. Blackwell, Baylor University
The conference will hold more than 50 presentations organized in 16 panels, the themes of which range from Spanish Golden Age literature and culture to the contemporary, 21st century film and literature, focusing on the themes that were important in Dr. Janet Pérez’ work, such as: identity and subjectivity, exile and marginalization, rewriting and subversion of tradition, and more.
A special feature of this conference is a two-hour homage session, in which former students and colleagues of Dr. Janet Pérez will share their memories of studying and working with her. Their speeches will be video recorded and a DVD will be sent to Dr. Pérez.
