Family Fright Night

Saturday, October 17 · 3:30 to 8 p.m.

Veterans Memorial Park, Lowville

A free community Halloween event — trunk-or-treat, vendors, yard games, a costume contest, a zombie chase game, and an outdoor movie after dark. People come for the afternoon and stay through the movie.

No vendor fee. You keep your sales.

Two things to know before you say yes:
• No power at the site — you'll need your own generator
• You'll need a current health department permit and a certificate of insurance naming the Village of Lowville as additionally insured, due by October 5

All vehicles stay on pavement.

🚗 9 TRUNK-OR-TREATERS — Decorate your trunk, bring candy, hand it out to kids in costume. Free to participate. Businesses, this one's for you.

🛍️ 5 VENDORS — Spooky, handmade or fall-themed. No booth fee. Bring your own tent, table and chairs.

🚚 2 FOOD TRUCKS — No fee, you keep your sales. Current health permit required.

One requirement for vendors and food trucks: a certificate of insurance naming the Village of Lowville as additionally insured, due October 5.

🌲 WE'RE LOOKING FOR LAND. 🌲

As we begin planning how to grow our performances and event hosting, we're searching for at least 15 acres. ⚔️

And we're not only looking in Lewis County. As we rebrand many of our events into North Country events, we're looking at St. Lawrence and Jefferson counties as well.

For sale, for lease, or just sitting unused and doing nothing.

To be clear: we are not announcing anything, and we are not planning anything yet. This is a long way off. But to get the ball rolling with our board, with banks, and with other stakeholders, we need to see what our options are and what things cost.

So if you know of something — a parcel coming up for sale, family land nobody's farming, a field you drive past and wonder about, or just a name we ought to call — we want to hear it. 💛

A donated parcel is a deductible gift to a 501(c)(3), and it would put a family's name on something permanent for the young people of the North Country.

🏰 THANK YOU, LEWIS COUNTY. 🏰

3,000 of you came through the gates this weekend. Last year it was 1,300. ⚔️

We're still sitting with that.

A few other numbers from the weekend:
🎟️ Hundreds of tickets donated to good causes across the North Country — community organizations, fire departments, and the families and youth we serve directly.

👕 Free shirts for the majority of our volunteers.

🍗 Over $2,000 paid out in volunteer meal vouchers.

Because the people who built this in the dark, worked until midnight, and stood in a field all weekend deserved to eat and to have something to wear. 💛

We're still doing the math on the net profit — stay tuned. Whatever it comes to goes exactly where it always does: the free teen center, free peer services, free arts programs, and free community events for the young people of this county.

Thank you for showing up. All 3,000 of you.

⚔️ TODAY IS THE DAY. ⚔️

Our team worked until midnight last night. Tents, banners, tables, outlines, signs — the whole realm, built in the dark by people who weren't getting paid for a minute of it.

We are ready. 🏰
