The 1st meetup and walkthrough of the building with our Board of Directors and any interested volunteers is this **Saturday, August 29th at 10am.** We plan to show y’all around and answer questions for one hour.

This is not a work event yet so much as a way to get together, share plans, and get organized for actual volunteer opportunities. We are very excited to see y’all! We will not be “open” but will be serving some light refreshments to those that come attend the tour.

• if you can make it this weekend drop a ❤️
• if you can’t make it this weekend but want to know about volunteer days when they are scheduled, drop a ✅

We were sorry to see these trees go, and we did the least removal possible. These were growing underneath the foundation and into the siding and the roof. We also had the limbs trimmed back that were hanging too low over the roof. The good news is that there's still half an acre of trees in back, and there was zero waste for those cut, nothing went to the landfill. Log-sized sections were all given away for firewood, and branches were chipped and given to a gardener for reuse. Bobby Solar and his gang engaged in some fine acrobatics, which you can see in the pics by Norm Carter Photographer

The rumors are true—Rapunzel’s is coming back to life! The Taylors made it possible by agreeing to pass on the building and beloved community venue—the music, the books, the support for local talent—that they’ve built with dedication and creativity through the decades. Gayla and Gene Mills, who are part of the Rapunzel’s family, have purchased the Lovingston Packing Shed and will serve on the Rapunzel’s Community Foundation Board.
The building needs significant attention before Rapunzel’s can reopen, but the goal is to begin having shows again in November. Stay tuned.
In the meantime, the search is on for people who’d like to help with rebuilding the old and bringing in the new, with plans to make Rapunzel’s even better, with more programs and more hours, but with the same community spirit.
Next Saturday, August 29th, those interested in volunteering will gather at the building at 10 AM for an hour long tour and discussion of ways they can help. So come explore parts of the building you’ve never seen before, from backstage to the upstairs studio to the mystery piano room, and come prepared to share your ideas.
We’re looking for help with all the skilled trades—carpentry, electrical, plumbing—along with landscapers and gardeners to reimagine the outdoor green spaces, graphics and web designers, and folks who are willing to get their hands dirty in order to get the place clean. Questions? Email Gayla at [email protected]
