Lighthouse Dance proudly announces our 7th Annual Time to Shine Student Showcase!

Our mid-semester production is all student choreographed and directed! Students will be auditioning their pieces on March 1st with the chance to showcase their solos, duets, and group numbers at the Rialto!

We are also excited to add an art show this year! Students have submitted artwork to display downtown at Lighthouse.

Our performance companies are excited to host the 2023 Daddy & Daughter Sweetheart Dance!

The event is Saturday, February 11th, at 3:30 and 6:00pm. Girls can dress up and bring their dad, grandpa, uncle, or other special male guest for this sweet night of dancing, games, and light refreshments.

Gabriel, or “Gabrielle”, the Arch Angel meaning “strength of God” delivered the good news to Mary that she would bring the savior into the world. In Nativity, Gabriel is played by our gorgeous advanced company dancer Elise. With her poise, grace, dedication, and gorgeous expression, she guides Mary and Joseph, angels, and Shepherds, directing the story from beginning to end. We love Elise! She has such a passion for Jesus and loving others. She is a beautiful leader with a humble spirit. Not just a lover of ballet, Elsie is phenomenal in Tap as well as contemporary styles.

Favored, blessed, treasurer of good news, humble, anointed. So many beautiful words to describe Mary, the mother of Jesus. Just a young girl whose life was turned upside down by GOOD news. She was going to be the mother of the savior of the world! Emmanuel, God with us, was coming to the world to bring peace and good news, through her and the holy spirit.

"My soul is ecstatic, overflowing with praises to God! My spirit bursts with joy over my life-giving God! For he set his tender gaze upon me, his lowly servant girl. And from here on, everyone will know that I have been favored and blessed. The Mighty One has worked a mighty miracle for me; holy is his name!" Luke 1:46-49

The role of Mary is so full of tender joy and hard work! This year's Mary is played by Julia Ciepiel. 18 and incredibly gifted, she plays our most dedicated role with elegance and grace! She loves contemporary and ballet styles of dance. She has an incredibly hard work ethic and is so dedicated to the Lord in her personal and dance life.

When Elizabeth heard the greeting of Mary, the Baby (John) leaped in her womb. And Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit, and she exclaimed with a loud cry, ‘blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb!“ Luke 1:41-42

Elizabeth had NO way of knowing Mary’s news when Mary showed up at her door. It was the spirit who gave her a revelation and insight to bless Mary in a way that celebrated what her young relative was experiencing. Elizabeth knew this was no ordinary baby, but rather the Messiah, and Elizabeth’s response also confirmed that to Mary that this was Good and truly a blessing! Even in the womb, Elizabeth’s baby knew that something great was near.

Elizabeth gave birth to John the Baptist, who played a key role in proclaiming news of the Kingdom of heaven to Israel. He also baptized Jesus and later died for his bold faith.

Molly is playing Elizabeth in Nativity, which is Dec 1st and 2nd at the Rialto in downtown Loveland. Tickets are on sale!

We LOVE our little ballerinas who play the stable animals in Nativity! These three are our lead animals but over 12 little girls ages 4-8 made the cast this year. What animals do you think were at the Nativity scene?

Nativity Monday!!

Joseph, aka Manu Kitissou-Jones.

A senior in high school, Manu has been dancing for 5 years with a focus on Hip-hop and Tap styles. He is an exceptional performer with an incredible stage presence (and smile!) that always draws the audience in with his attention to detail muscle movements and acrobatic tricks. Strong and so kind, also one of our assistant teachers, and he is always willing to serve and help at Lighthouse. We love having him dance with us and it’s been so fun seeing him dive into contemporary and Pas De Deux choreography for Nativity.

Nativity performances are Dec. 1st at 6:30 p.m. and Dec. 2nd, at 4:00 & 7:30 p.m. at the Rialto in Loveland.

Mondays are for showcasing some of our lead cast for Nativity this season, so today we want to introduce you to our Lead Shepherds!

Did you know that the shepherds were probably around the age of 10-15 years of age? Some of them might have been indentured servants paying off debt for their families. They were typically viewed with contempt and disgust. In David's time, it was a family business but by the time Jesus came to the world, it was a despised class of work. They were hard workers, they were protectors, and they were trusted by their flock- but still not valuable to society. However, they were the FIRST to hear of the amazing news of the savior from the angels. Not other kings, not those of high standing, but in fact those who were deemed not as valuable. What an amazing showcase of God's love right at the start of Jesus's life.

What do the shepherds also teach us in the nativity story? Obedience. The society's outcasts were to hear the good news first and then share the news with haste as the first evangelists. Once the angels left, the Bible tells us that the shepherds said, "Let’s go to Bethlehem and see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has told us about" (verse 15) and then proceeded to tell everyone the good news around Bethlehem.

God doesn't forget what society sees as outcasts, he looks at them with value and importance. God loves all, he cares for all, and wants everyone to hear the good news, even those whom society has dismissed. He has a calling for each of us and we can choose to be a part of his story, no matter what society has labeled us.

Tickets for our third annual winter production of "Nativity" go on sale tomorrow morning! This production sold out last year, so we are excited to be adding an additional show and be back at the historic Rialto Theater in downtown Loveland!

The show begins with a brother and sister experiencing the joy of the Christmas eve celebrations, next to a cozy fire, they sit down to discover the true meaning of Christmas with their mother. The story comes to life with Mary & Joseph's walk of faith and joy as they bring Emmanuel into the world. Angels en pointe, shepherds experiencing the glory, drummers welcoming the king, celebration dancers giving praise, hip-hop kings finding the star, and tiny animal ballerinas; are just pieces of this incredible holiday experience that is entertainment for the entire family.

There is a lot of excitement and delight for our Christmas production "Nativity" right now! We had so much fun at our Lead Cast photoshoot today. How beautiful are our Mary (Julia Ciepiel) and Gabrielle (Elise Theiss), with this precious newborn Jesus? We love that we get to tell the story of his birth through dance each year.
