What a tragic day and awful news! We don’t normally post about celebrity deaths, but Dolly was just an incredible human being, and I personally was positively impacted by her foundation for her children’s reading program. I was able to get free books every month as a newly single mom for my child up until the age of five. We still own a lot of these cherished books and they are treasured pieces of my son’s childhood memories. Here’s to you Dolly!

NoraeBar friends and family, the Highlands and the bars which do so much to make it what it is -- including the most Queer-allied neighborhood in Kentucky -- is being threatened.

NoraeBar will always continue its mission to bring more inclusivity, more unity, more joy, and more love to our city. In that spirit, we could never stand idly by while a small handful of wealthy insiders exert extremely outsized influence to cast out these businesses, their employees, and their patrons. These gathering places are staples in our community and are essential to the myriad cultures which define and lift up this neighborhood.

Please sign this petition to keep the Highlands a mosaic of bright, lively, diverse, and unique businesses serving all walks of life. Even if they aren't land owners, even if they aren't in the inner circle of the city's power brokers, and even if they choose to enjoy one another's company after a particular hour of night.

The measure to make the Highlands "moist" (ew) is a knee-jerk, short-sighted, and, frankly, highly classist reaction to a set of circumstances that should be addressed with compassion, not economic and political carpet-bombing.

When NoraeBar reopens in the coming weeks we'll throw a party celebrating once again having come together to Keep Louisville Weird! : )
