Gaela Erwin work centers primarily on psychological portraiture, especially self-portraiture. She works in pastel and oil, combining refined technique with strong emotional intensity.
• Her style is deeply influenced by the tradition of the Old Masters, particularly European portraiture from the 17th and 18th centuries.
• She draws direct references from artists like Caravaggio or Rosalba Carriera, reinterpreting them through a contemporary sensibility.
• Her images often merge seductive realism with psychological tension, exploring identity, anxiety, death, and family relationships.
• Many of her works depict herself embodying historical, religious, or symbolic figures (saints, martyrs), creating a kind of intimate theater of the self.

In more recent phases, her work has shifted toward themes such as care, grief, and memory, especially in series dedicated to her mother, where the personal becomes universal.

Natural Formations — Karen Boone

Moremen Gallery will present the work of Karen Boone this Friday. Her practice emerges from an intimate, direct relationship with the landscape, unfolding outside the studio where she gathers materials and records gestures that transform into organic compositions.

Working with natural pigments and improvised tools, Boone creates surfaces that move between abstraction and the memory of place. Her pieces do not depict nature literally; rather, they evoke it as physical experience, process, and trace.

In Natural Formations, her work invites viewers to observe the invisible structures that shape the natural world, encouraging a deeper reflection on our connection to the environment.

At , a selection of works is presented as a space for visual and emotional reflection. The exhibition proposes a dialogue between form, material, and experience, where each piece becomes a meeting point between the artist’s intention and the viewer’s gaze.

More than a group of works, the exhibition unfolds as a sensitive journey that invites viewers to pause, observe, and discover the intimate resonances that emerge in each encounter with the artwork.
