Finally finished this piece for a birthday gift almost two decades (!) after I started it! I was doing a bunch of cleaning/sifting through items several weeks ago, and came across a very rough pencil sketch and a few splotches of watercolor in one of my canvas pads. After looking at it and thinking about it for a little while, I decided it needed to be completed. 🙂

New commission that I wrapped up last week! This illustration is a riff on the "Three of Cups" tarot card; as per my usual m.o. I waited until the last possible second to get it done, and I kept panicking about getting the likenesses (not typically one of my strong suits) looking the way I wanted, but I think it turned out decently. Best I could manage was a ok-quality scan of a not-great quality color photocopy, so you'll have to take my word for it that it looks a lot cooler IRL. :D

Today is the day: Issue One of Meat City is on sale now!! My creative cohorts and I are really excited to finally be debuting this project, and we can't wait for you to check it out in all of its succulent, juicy, grilled-to-perfection goodness!!

I missed Mar10 day yesterday, but I was playing some of his games and working on some sketching; if there is some parallel reality where a certain Mr. Crumb happened to be working for Nintendo, I'd imagine he might eventually doodle something like this. Apologies and Respects to...basically everybody, but especially Messrs. Crumb and Miyamoto!

Before I get to what I hope will be a substantial rollout of new stuff for the new year, here's another (very) deep cut from my portfolio archives! It's rough around the edges, but I enjoyed the DIY aspect of wandering around the streets of Savannah and spotting this stoop/porch and taking a photo of it, then doing my best to recreate it pretty much exactly as I saw it, while also being one of my first major forays into experimenting with different types of pen-and-ink lines and pointillism.
