Justice for David McAtee. Justice for Breonna Taylor. Justice for George Floyd. Justice for all the Black folx murdered by the police, by the state, by our healthcare system. Mayor Greg Fischer, fire and charge the offending officers TODAY.

Dear Friends,

In light of recent developments, Theatre [502] and our partners at Black Lives Matter have decided to postpone our production of Gasping Whiteness.

In the words of the original production team, this play is an invitation into a “grounded, heart-centered, accountable conversation about power, privilege, and liberation.” We really want to have that conversation with you, but not at this particular moment. We reached this decision not out of panic, but in the spirit of mitigating risk for our community.

If you were planning on coming to the play, please consider using your extra time to read up on the Movement for Black Lives (https://policy.m4bl.org/) and the U.S. Department of Arts and Culture’s call to Honor Native Land (https://usdac.us/nativeland).

We hope to mount the play in the coming months, when we all have more information. Time will tell, and we will keep you posted.

Thank you for supporting live theatre. Thank you for your commitment to anti-racism. Thank you for understanding.

Take care of each other,
Diana & Steve
