The food puns bring me joy πŸ˜‚ The romance novel has forced proximity because the MMC helps run a catering company and the FMC takes a job as his executive assistant (not realizing it is him of course!). I hope these titles, or similar, make it through to publishing.

For some fun, I wanted to share a line* from the romance book, Into the Fire. 🫢🏻 I want to share a few lines from each book every now and then. Would this line intrigue you to read more?

*This is from an early draft. This line will likely be edited or possibly removed in future revisions.

Turns out, outlined actually can help a lot πŸ˜‚ Who knew??

I pants-ed my way through my fantasy novel, and accepted that meant large rewrites were necessary. I wanted to see how the other half lived with the romance novel, and it turns out it's pretty sweet.

(Also, forgive the watermark that is showing up from Instagram. I shared the reel to the wrong account (the one only for writing or books), so I had to download it to upload here.)

Well πŸ˜… cat's out of the bag on this one.

I'm still getting through editing my first book (working title: Dragon Singer), but truth be told it can be a bit heavy. It deals with things like genoc!de and a fasc!st empire in a high fantasy world. I also went into it without much of a plan, so editing looks a lot more like rewriting at this point.

Contrast that to my new book (working title: Into the Fire) which is being written by a more skilled version of me. I have over 200,000 words of practice pulling together a novel that I didn't have last time. I was able to fully draft this book, and I'm really excited to write it. It is a low-stakes romance set in a low-fantasy world.

I'm eager to get both of them on the page, and really want to share about them. 🫢🏻

Now that it has been gifted I can show off the final result of my most recent experiment! I'm really happy with how the headbands came out after they were a bit fiddly (those little cloth bits between the pages and spine that hide the folds in the pages).

This is a monster manual for D&D organized alphabetically to make quick research a bit easier. I included two ribbon bookmarks because we all know more than one monster will be around at a time most likely πŸ˜‚

This project was my first attempt at formatting and printing the book to bind instead of rebinding. I learned a lot regarding sewing the pages together and making the text block. I look forward to doing it again at some point.

I may have forgotten to take a picture of this before adding the glue, but I am pretty happy with how my first time stitching a text block together went! I'm excited to learn how to print and make my own books.

The next steps are going to look a lot like the rebinding I've already done and I can't wait for the final product 🀞🏻

Working on my newest rebind was a bust 😩 I forgot how temperamental metallic HTV is and managed to scorch it. When it is reflecting it isn't too bad, but otherwise it's pretty ugly.

Currently in the process of remaking it and heavily considering using a different vinyl this time πŸ˜‚

Part two of my writing update! Fixing the first draft will humble you, that's for sure πŸ˜… I can't be upset though - the only job of a first draft is to exist, and I'm happy that it does. After this overhaul I'm expecting the next round of edits to go a little faster.

I haven't done an update in a while. This is part one, where I am basically saying what I've said in the past, but the truth is this change is taking the bulk of my time. It is coming along really well though and I can't wait to share more. 🫢🏻

So I picked up a new hobby πŸ˜‚ I wanted to try rebinding books after getting hooked watching many, many reels. I went to goodwill and picked up some 99 cent books that were in rough condition to practice on. This was my first attempt. I learned a lot for next time, but overall I'm happy with the outcome.

Rebidding involved removing the cover, sanding the yellowed pages to be white again, adding new end pages, reinforcing the spine, making a new hard jacket, and designing a new cover to cut on my cricut. ✌🏻Not too bad for a 1980s romance book I think!

I still am crocheting and embroidering and everything else, but man it's so much fun learning something new!
