Two things:

1. I'll be in Franklinton, NC this Saturday for the Funkytown event from 3 pm-8 pm at the booth.

2. I've been calling myself the unofficial spokesperson for the Artist Support Grant for years, so this is your annual reminder to get those ideas solidified to submit your application! (If you want to talk in person about the grant, come out to the event Saturday!) The deadline varies by county ranging from August 3-October 15, so check with your local arts council to see when your deadline is! Buy new tools or a larger kiln (I'm looking at you fellow potters 👀), splurge on materials, attend educational workshops, upgrade your website! Don't hold yourself back, you can do this! Get the money while it's there before the govt calls it "wasteful government spending" and cuts our support! 🫣😅🫠 Do I excessively use exclamation points?! Absolutely! It's so you know how fun and exciting I am! 😸😜

What a weekend! 😻 I am super stoked to have enjoyed another Oddities Expo with you kooky bunch of humans! Thank you to everyone for your kind words, fun conversations, and supporting me as an artist! 🥰 I also got to see several friends that I hadn't seen in years, and that was just awesome. 💜

The number of things that found a new home is astonishing:
👁️ 7 sculptures
☕ 12 mugs
🥄10 spoon rests
🐙2 te****le spoons
🪴2 plant pots
📿5 necklaces
🍽️ 21 trays and dishes of various sizes (there are no good emojis for this one🫠)

I couldn't feel more grateful and supported, so from my entire heart, thank you 💜💜💜

Just here to show you this beautiful brain plate that no one asked to see. 😇 I probably should have taken better pictures before I shipped it yesterday, but alas, here we are. 🫠

I love making these because I think they're gorgeous, but like, what do people do with a plate like this? Hang it on the wall? Use it as a cake plate for a special occasion? I don't really picture someone eating spaghetti on here, but I guess I shouldn't knock it til I try it! 😅😂 Alright, that's enough out of me, carry on 😸

Just some behind the scenes shots and info:

📷 I take pics of pieces before a glaze firing to keep track of how much glazes run.

✏️ I use a pencil to write on the bottom of each piece so I know how I glaze them.

🔥 Most pencil marks burn off in the kiln.

❌ I should, but I don't do test tiles for glazes. I'm just winging it man.

⏱️ My kiln is pretty big and it takes forever to fill it. Sometimes I joke that it's big enough to fit 2 small people depending on how I hack them up.

☠️ That's probably not a very good joke.

⚰️ I also joke that to make money on the side I can open a cremation business with the kiln since people are fired to 1600 degrees and my clay gets fired to 2200 degrees.

⚠️ Again, that is not a very good joke and serves as a good example for why I make things in my basement instead of getting a real job.

🧽🧼🧹 Well that's enough procrastinating, time to get back to cleaning the studio.
