Sawdust and SodaCans

Sawdust and SodaCans Woodworking and
Upcycled Art got married. Sawdust and Soda Cans creates handmade woodwork, upcycled art, and jewelry with heart, humor,
and a little extra.

Custom pieces made to last, tell stories, and become part of your family’s memories. Perfect — that’s super helpful, Bridgit. Thanks! I’ve got enough to shape this well without the social links yet (though if you want me to plug them in cleanly at the end, you can drop them later). Here’s a first draft of the **Facebook “Our Story” About section** for *Sawdust and Soda Cans*:

# # # 🌿 Our Story

Welcome to **Sawdust and Soda Cans** — where a pile of wood shavings and a stack of discarded cans somehow turn into handmade pieces that last longer than trends. We’re Darren and Bridgit, the creative chaos behind the name. Darren wrangles the sawdust — shaping wood into pieces that feel like they’ve been part of your home forever. Bridgit turns upcycled materials and found bits into art with a story (and probably a little sparkle). We might work in different mediums, but we share a workshop spirit: everything we make starts with imagination, ends with tired (and sometimes wounded) hands, and lasts because we care. We build, we tinker, we test ideas on each other (and occasionally steal each other’s tools). That collaboration makes every creation better — honest, sturdy, and a little unexpected. If you like things made by real people who laugh a lot and craft with purpose, you’re in the right place. Join the fun:

Most things today are designed to be replaced.

Furniture that wobbles.
Tools that snap.
Things built just long enough to sell the next one.

But some materials deserve better.

And some people are meant to make things.

The full story behind Sawdust & Soda Cans is now on the blog — a nine-chapter journey from balloons and soda cans to woodworking, reclaimed materials, and a workshop that refuses to treat good materials like trash.

The modern marketplace runs on speed.

Fast fashion.
Fast furniture.
Fast everything.

Objects designed to last just long enough to be replaced.

But makers tend to look at materials differently.

Wood with decades of growth in the grain.
Aluminum waiting for another purpose.

Some materials deserve better.

**Chapter 9 of the Sawdust & Soda Cans story is now on the blog.**

This is the chapter where the philosophy behind the work comes into focus.

Sometimes the way forward is remembering where you started.

Not more products.
Not more directions.

Just the materials that made the work exciting in the first place.

Wood.
Aluminum.
Tools.
Imagination.

Two makers. Two materials.

Sawdust & Soda Cans.

This is where the name finally appears.

Opportunity can be a strange trap.

Customers want everything.
Signs.
Decor.
Custom pieces.
More products.
More variety.

So makers do what makers often do.

They say yes.

And somewhere along the way the work starts losing the thing that made it exciting in the first place.

PSC Upcycle started with a simple idea: take what’s been discarded and give it a second life.

That idea isn’t changing.

But the way we carry it forward is.

We’re joining forces under Sawdust and Soda Cans—combining woodworking and upcycled art into one brand.🥰

Sometimes the hardest turns in life happen right when things start working.

The kiosk was growing.
The maker dream in Alaska was becoming real.

And then life asked something different.

Family needed help.
Plans had to change.
And the road suddenly pointed south.

**Chapter 6 of the Sawdust & Soda Cans story is now on the blog.**

This is the chapter where the journey leaves Alaska.

Handmade businesses don’t always start in cozy studios or craft fairs.

Sometimes they start in a military mall food court.

Between the smell of fried chicken and soldiers talking about training, a small kiosk became the testing ground for something new.

Woodworking.
Soda can jewelry.
And customers asking for things factories couldn’t make.

**Chapter 5 of the Sawdust & Soda Cans story is now on the blog.**

This is where the experiment started working.

Before there was Sawdust & Soda Cans…

there was wood.

Real wood.

Not the hollow pressboard furniture that shows up in a box with instructions and a tiny wrench.

Wood with grain.
Weight.
Strength.

The kind of material that expects you to know what you’re doing with tools.

**Chapter 4 of the Sawdust & Soda Cans story is now on the blog.**

This is where the wood side of the workshop enters the story.
