Get ready to party like it's 1959! π This Saturday, August 29th, Los Ranchos Art Market is throwing it back to the good ol' days from 8am-12pm. Imagine a world where bell-bottom jeans and vinyl records are cool again... yeah, we're talkin' Retro Art Rock, baby! πΈ
Retro Art is not simply old-looking artwork; it is a conscious artistic reinterpretation of styles from the past, typically spanning the 1920s to the 1970s.
Remember Georgia O'Keeffe's famous painting of a cow's skull over a red, white, and blue background. In her work, OβKeeffe isolates a single skull, highlighting its jagged edges, worn surfaces, and bleached color. To OβKeeffe, such bones represented the desertβs enduring beauty and the strength of the American spirit, which is alluded to in the striped background. The Retro Art of painting skulls began in the 1930βs and maybe even earlier!
Our local artisans are bringing the heat with their handmade, hand-painted masterpieces, including pottery, ceramic, textiles, canvas, wood, leather, metal, baskets, hats, wearable art, jewelry, and natural beauty products.
Our market features original artwork, fine art, craftsmanship, jewelry designs, health and beauty products, and home goods, all created by local New Mexico artisans.
You'll be groovin' to the tunes and maybe even learn a thing or two about Retro Art's rich history (hello, Georgia O'Keeffe!). Oh, and don't forget to bring your furry friends and your appetite, because our Growers Market and food vendors are ready to satisfy your cravings!
Visit us every Saturday from 8am-noon at 6718 Rio Grande Blvd. NW, Los Ranchos de Albuquerque, NM. Want to know more about our fabulous vendors? Check out our website: https://www.thelosranchosartmarket.com. Thanks for being part of our community, and don't be a party pooper - share the love! π
