My love, my one and only…
Man, look at me here, all bundled up like I’m prepping for a winter apocalypse in my own living room. This tree’s going nuts with lights flashing like they’re competing for attention, ornaments hanging all over the place (some musical ones because, you know, that’s my jam), fire crackling away with that cozy pop and snap. Stockings up there, one way bigger than it needs to be ‘cause I got carried away with the stuffing ideas, presents in a heap that look like I wrestled the wrapping paper and lost. Hat smashed on my head, scarf wrapped around like it’s trying to hug me too tight, glasses on even though it’s just me and the glow in here… feeling all warm and silly, the good kind.
But seriously, all this holiday vibe? It’s cool, it’s fun, but it fades quick when I think about you not being part of it. My brain just skips right over the decorations and lands on you every damn time. Like it’s got no off switch.
You’re the person who took this beat-up, quirky, always-on-the-move guy and made him feel like he’s finally home. Who gets me excited about the little things — hearing your voice crack up at my lame attempts at humor, or just chilling in silence that doesn’t feel awkward. You’ve stuck around through my weird hours, the paint messes, the failed kitchen experiments, the days I get lost in my own head — and you don’t judge. You just pull me back with that grin, make it all seem lighter somehow.
Those times we’ve shared — the random walks where we end up laughing at nothing, the rainy days we turn into indoor adventures, the nights we stay up way too late talking about nonsense or deep stuff. You stealing covers in the morning and acting all innocent about it. Me trying to surprise you with food and you saving the day with your quick fixes. Us dancing around to whatever music’s on, you tripping over my feet on purpose, me twirling you till we’re both out of breath and collapsing in a pile.
Your sense of humor slays me every time. You’ve got me coming up with puns and stories just to get that belly laugh out of you. Like when I show up in some outrageous getup and you don’t hold back — you roast me good, and then we’re both cracking up because yeah, it’s absurd. We’ve built this stack of private jokes that pop up at the worst times, like in the middle of a store, and we lose it while everyone else stares.
You’ve been my rock through the rough patches too. The heavy days, the noisy ones, the times everything feels off. You don’t back off — you hold tight, help turn the bad into something bearable, make me see the scars as part of the story, not the end of it. With you, love feels straightforward — fun, deep, real, without all the drama.
This holiday season, what I really want is you right here. Snuggled up, nabbing the best treats, giving me grief about my wrapping skills, deciding the tree’s not quite right yet (and you’re always spot on). Mornings tangled in blankets, afternoons lost in whatever we’re into — shows, books, just chatting. Evenings by the warmth, making silly plans or serious ones. Weather doing its thing outside, us making our own magic inside. You unwrapping whatever I put together, me loving that look on your face more than anything.
Lately, I’ve been thinking about what’s ahead — more seasons like this, more laughs, more quiet times. Getting older side by side, hands linked, still goofing off, still catching each other’s eye like it’s the first time. Because with you, it always feels fresh.
Thanks for loving the whole package — the odd habits, the chaos, the hats, the late nights, all of it. You’ve turned my world into something wild and wonderful.
Merry Christmas, babe. I love you bigger than I can put into words — deeper than any story, louder than any tune, realer than anything out there.
Yours forever,
JD
