We are honored beyond saying to have MALABOMBA! familia and frequent performance collaborator Robby Marshall dedicate such an awesome homage to the storied, glorious dancing days of our years past. Thank you for linking the present and the past together this way. We can't wait to hear the full EP. All sentimentality aside, this track is also just a solid banger - check it out! OPA!

New music!! My new single Malabomba! is out now 💙 I invite you to stream, share, and dance to it!

It’s a tribute to the Balkan brass band music that has brought me so much joy, and part of an EP I’ll be releasing in the fall called Mediterranean Sketches.

The name also pays hommage to an incredible LA music series created by Jason Savvy that put folk music back into the dance and party setting. My group Rootsystem first played this tune at Malabomba!

Featuring plus special guest Naghib Shanbehzadeh on percussion and believe it or not, horns from RootSystem recorded in LA!

Anthony Winzenrieth - guitar
Nicolas Grupp - drums
Sylvain Dubrez - bass
Naghib Shanbehzadeh - percussion

and my LA horn family:
Matt Rubin - trumpet
Vikram Devasthali - trombone
Justin Kirk - Trombone

Recorded by Sebastien Tondo at
horns recorded by Tommy King

The Los Angeles music community lost a bright and talented member of the family. We are saddened to hear of the tragic loss of La Chamba founding member Carlos Zaragoza.

Our hearts go out to his family, friends, and bandmates. We donated to his fundraiser page to aid his surviving family in their recovery from this devastation, and humbly request you consider a donation as well.

Carlos Zaragoza was the embodiment of warmth and love to all those around him. He filled the lives of his friends and family with laughter and music. He dedicated his career to helping those in need. Our treasure, Carlos, and his father died tragically on July 25, 2019. Please, give what you c...
