📣 New West Alum and former Ignite Project facilitator Rosie Narasaki’s When Yuri Met Malcolm will have its benefit premiere at East West Players! 📣

Opening EWP’s 2026/27 Theatre for Youth tour, the play explores the legacy of Yuri Kochiyama through her friendship with Malcolm X, tracing her journey from Japanese American incarceration camps to a lifetime of activism. What does it mean to be a citizen of a flawed country, and how much can one person do to change it?

In the Tomb of Ten Thousand Calendars explores history, memory, and change, captured in three snapshots from China’s fraught history — all taking place 90 feet below ground in the tomb of the Wanli Emperor. In the fractured mirror of a different time and place, we see the cultural and generational upheaval of today’s America.

Director Bart DeLorenzo rips Ibsen’s classic powerhouse of a play out of the 19th century and thrusts it into 2026. A century and a quarter since its premiere, this lean and urgent reimagining honors Ibsen’s original through highlighting its contemporary likeness – a likeness too uncanny to ignore. Set in May 2022, during the siege of Azovstal steel and Iron Works, Mariupol, Ukraine. Azovstal was the Alamo of the Ukraine War (although there are probably other battles that qualify as well, but we’ll just go with that for now.)

Set in a chillingly plausible near future, FEED is a gripping dystopian drama where the legal fight over one woman’s pregnancy becomes the most watched trial in the nation. As her fate is argued on a state-controlled broadcast designed to sway public opinion, questions of autonomy, justice, propaganda, and hope collide in a courtroom unlike any you’ve seen before.

FEED was first produced in 2007 and later developed through the EST/LA Playwrights Unit prior to publication.
