Storytelling 101: Villains Part2😈
Did You Know? Your Antagonist Doesn't Have to Be "Evil"! 🤯

Mind-blowing plot hack for first-time writers: An antagonist is NOT always a bad guy. They are simply whoever stands between your main character and their goal!

Look at these famous examples:

-Yourself: In Fight Club, the main character is literally his own worst enemy through his alter ego, Tyler Durden.

-A Good Person: In Casablanca, Victor Laszlo is a literal war hero! But he’s the antagonist because he’s competing for the same woman’s love as the hero.

-Your Own Parents: In S*x Education, Otis’s mom isn't evil—she just embarrasses him with her overbearing love and lack of boundaries!

The Takeaway: Conflict doesn't always need a dark lord with a sword. Sometimes it’s just two good people with opposite goals! 💥

In a warzone zeroed in on lost kids, one fearless dog stands between them and total annihilation. 🐾💥

Huge congratulations to Voyage client Richard Norris on his incredible project, MARKO: DOG OF WAR! When Richard first brought his concept to Voyage, we were immediately gripped by its powerful blend of raw emotion and relentless tension. Through our development process, he pitched his vision to veteran producer Ryan Heppe to bring this harrowing survival story to life.

Set against the chaotic backdrop of the invasion of Ukraine, this drama/thriller follows the Kovalenko siblings separated from their parents in hostile territory. To survive the brutal landscape and reunite their family, they must rely on their own resourcefulness and Marko, a brave dog willing to charge into the fire alongside them.⚡

Seeing Richard’s story evolve from an initial pitch at Voyage into a fully realized, market-ready project is a massive milestone. We couldn't be prouder of Richard and Ryan for bringing this story to this stage! 🥂✨

Storytelling 101: Villains Part1🚨
The #1 Secret to Writing Great Villains ✍️ ✨
Want to write a villain that readers actually care about? Here’s a secret master storytellers use: Every bad guy is the hero of their own story. 🧠 🔥

Think about it:
-They have a moral code: In Fahrenheit 451, Captain Beatty burns books because he genuinely believes literature ruins society.
-They think they're saving the day: Thanos doesn't think he's evil—he genuinely believes wiping out half the universe will save the other half from running out of resources!

Writer’s Pro-Tip: Don't write a villain who just wants to "do evil." Give them a strong reason why they think they're doing the right thing.

Voyage Original Alert🚨
How far into the shadows would you walk to bring your sister back? 🩸💀

When client Shaunya Boddie brought FLY GIRLS to Voyage, we knew her dark, vicious vision had teeth. Through our incubator, Shaunya pitched her original concept through producer Amanda Toye alongside writer Adisakdi Tantimedh to build the nightmare.

The horror feature follows a young woman hunting for her missing sister, only to bleed into a brutal underground world of female vampire vigilantes. Once dragged into their web, she’s forced to fight a sadistic overlord to survive the night. 🦇⚔️

Watching Shaunya’s story go from an initial pitch at Voyage to a market-ready horror project has been a total thrill. Big kudos to Shaunya, Amanda, Robert, and Adisakdi! 🥂✨

First-time storytellers often think the hardest part is finishing their project, until they realize they don't know how to navigate the global market where financing actually lives. 🔑

The record-breaking submission numbers at the Busan Asian Project Market prove that global co-production markets are thriving and actively hunting for original stories.

Here’s the reality: international buyers want fresh concepts, but they expect them to arrive professionally packaged. Bridging the gap between a raw idea and a pitch that global financiers take seriously requires insider guidance.

At Voyage, we believe Hollywood Is Changing and Access Matters. We pair first-time creators directly with veteran producers who know how to package and position your project for global opportunities—so you never have to guess your way through development. Why pay for therapy when you can just turn your ex-wife and TWO ex-fiancés into your personal dating advisory board? 💍💀

When client Michael Silbergleid came to Voyage with MY EXES, we knew he had tapped into a whole new level of self-inflicted chaos. Through our development process, Michael teamed up with producer Franchesca Lantz and writer Shadley Grei to turn this delightfully unhinged concept into a full-blown TV comedy.

The series follows Jonathan, a mid-30s NYC PR guy who loves being in love—yet somehow remains profoundly allergic to actual commitment. Naturally, his primary support system as he searches for "The One" consists of the three women whose hearts (and wedding plans) he previously set on fire. What could possibly go wrong? 🗽🍷

Seeing Michael’s hilarious premise go from an early pitch at Voyage to a market-ready series has been a total blast. Huge kudos to Michael, Franchesca, and Shadley! 🥂✨

First-time creators don't get stuck because their ideas lack promise, they get stuck because they don't have direct access to experienced producers who know how to pitch them. 🔑

The latest winners at Amman Film Industry Days showcase a huge win for emerging cinema, with top pitching awards going directly to first-time feature projects. These debut creators didn't stand out by chance; they presented thoroughly developed concepts backed by strategic producer partnerships.

This highlights a fundamental industry truth: access transforms possibilities. When a first-time storyteller attaches an experienced producer during pitch development, the project's credibility with financiers elevates instantly. A producer brings the packaging expertise, market awareness, and structural polish that turns a raw concept into a fundable project.

At Voyage, our approach is built on the belief that Great Stories Come From Anywhere, but Access Matters. We pair first-time storytellers directly with working industry producers to develop, package, and position their film, TV, or podcast projects. You don't have to navigate the pitch environment alone or guess what buyers want to see. (Check out the full story link in our comments! ⬇️)
