Playhouse West is one of the few acting schools in Los Angeles that has Sanford Meisner’s blessing to teach his technique. If you've had a story living in your head, a half-finished screenplay sitting on your laptop, or you've always wanted to learn how to write for film and TV, this is your chance to finally make it happen.

Our 3-month Screenwriting Zoom Class with Doug Van Bebber returns this September 🤩

Why Meisner Technique is even more relevant today. Sometimes you don’t get the luxury of acting with another actor. On set, and in our world of self-tapes. Meisner, being the genius he was, understood that no matter what format, acting is living truthfully under imaginary circumstances 🎭🎬

Also, love that this has to do with sheep and if you’ve been through emotional preparation…well, IYKYK 😅

Acting is EMBARRASSING. It really can be. But if you aren’t embarrassed at some point, can you really say you are taking the swings you need to be? We’re not just talking about auditions. Are you taking these swings in class? Working on characterizations, impediments, accents? Keep pushing forward and take those leaps to see what you can add to your arsenal!

Come watch actors willingly put themselves in delightfully unpredictable situations at The Society Show on Saturday, July 11 at 7 PM!

The audience throws out the suggestions. Our actors take it from there. Sometimes it's hilarious. Sometimes it's surprisingly heartfelt. Sometimes everyone ends up wondering, "How did we get here?" That's part of the fun.

Every production eventually reaches its final performance. This Sunday, Coyote on a Fence reaches its own.

Over the past several weeks, audiences have joined us for Bruce Graham's compelling drama, engaging with a story that explores guilt, innocence, justice, and the complexity of human nature. It's a play that asks difficult questions without pretending there are easy answers.

Bruce Graham's gripping drama follows two Death Row inmates whose lives become intertwined as they wrestle with guilt, innocence, responsibility, and the stories people tell themselves to justify the choices they've made.
