Thank you ABC7 News for your coverage on the Los Angeles Asian Pacific Film Festivall (Visual Communications)! We appreciate your amplification of our AAPI filmmakers and storytellers! Check out this recap and please share with your friends if you see them in the clip!
The 1882 Foundation and the DC chapter of the Asian American Journalists Association hosted a screening on May 10, the day the Transcontinental Railroad was completed. In 2014, Corky famously recreated the "champagne photo", which omitted Chinese railroad workers, with descendants of the Chinese laborers in an act of “photographic justice.”
Dear Corky, directed by Vincent Who? director Curtis Chin and longtime BAAFF collaborator Kenneth Eng, premiered on Friday at the Los Angeles Asian Pacific Film Festival (and will hopefully be shown in Boston later on this year!)

What a truly amazing way to end an unforgettable trip out here in California - we are ecstatic to announce that BAD AXE WON THE GRAND JURY PRIZE at the
Los Angeles Asian Pacific Film Festival!!🍾🥂🙏🏽
Humbled and honored don’t even begin to describe how it feels for us to accept this award from our fellow Asian-American filmmaking community. This is such a big one for us - they all are. Thank you to each and every one of you for making this journey possible and please help us to continue to spread the word, the heart, and our story of BAD AXE.
This really made my day (my week, my birthday month!) because "Sa Paglupad Ka Banog" (The Flight of Banog) was given a rave review by film critic Tom Wilmot of Asian Movie Pulse (Though I have read his reviews in the past but I don't know him personally so this is even more special). When I reached the last paragraph, I really cried. Here's a critic who perfectly understood our film and our love and respect for the indigenous material. This is really a huge treat for my birthday (which I don't usually celebrate anyway - but it's coming in 12 days). THANK YOU SO MUCH Tom and Asian Movie Pulse. And THANK YOU VERY MUCH Los Angeles Asian Pacific Film Festival for selecting our film to be screened during the opening day and playing our DCP at the Directors Guild of America (Cinema 3). It matters to me that the film be watched in a theater so the film will be even more appreciated. Very much humbled by this review. BAW SALAMAT GID NGA MADAMO! Ginpalipay n'yo gid kami. ❤️🙏
A big THANK YOU to everyone who joined us on Sunday at the Los Angeles Asian Pacific Film Festival. We were honored so many of you spent your evening with us for the special screening of WATERMAN in celebration of Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month. The audience was incredible, and as many festival goers said, you could feel the aloha in the room as Duke Kahanamoku's life story unfolded on the big screen.
We hope you will join us again tonight from the comfort of your home to tune into 'American Masters: Waterman -- Duke: Ambassador of Aloha' on PBS American Masters! 9/8c
