YOUTH VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY
Hello,
We’re excited to share that the Boyle Heights Youth Festival (BHYFest) is returning for 2026. BHYFest is currently recruiting Day-of Volunteers to help make this year’s festival a success.
Appreciate your support in sharing this volunteer opportunity with youth who may be interested in gaining community service hours, leadership experience, and hands-on event involvement.

BHYFest will take place on Saturday, June 6th from 3- 7:00pm on 1st Street between St. Louis and Breed Street in Boyle Heights.

BHYFest is a free, community-centered festival celebrating Boyle Heights youth and families through live performances, interactive activities, local resources, free food, agua frescas and more. Youth volunteers play a huge role in helping create a welcoming, fun, and impactful experience for our community.

Volunteer perks include community service hours, hands-on experience, and a chance to support a community event while connecting with other young people.

Virtual mandatory volunteer meeting on Tuesday, May 26 from 4-5:00pm so volunteers can feel prepared and ready for the day.

Our cast and crew are hard at work to bring this powerful story to life. Set in East L.A., the play follows nine-year-old Connie as her family begins to fracture under the weight of war, activism, and grief after her brother Luie is drafted to Vietnam.

CASA 0101 Theater proudly opens a new art exhibit: “Bonnie Lambert, Corazón y Alma: A Retrospective.”

Join us as we celebrate the life and work of the late Bonnie Lambert. A prolific, deeply talented artist and an incredible human being whose impact on our community continues to resonate. Bonnie first exhibited at CASA 0101’s gallery in 2013 and has remained a constant presence, uplifting fellow artists and supporting our programs in quiet yet powerful ways.

Her vibrant, colorful work and keen artistic eye inspired so many to pick up a paintbrush and tell their own stories. This retrospective honors not just her art, but the lasting impression she left on everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.

Bonnie, may you rest in peace. Your corazón y alma live on through your art. ❤️
