“Von Lintel Gallery is excited to announce its representation of Nicolette Spear. The artist will have her first solo exhibition with the gallery in January 2025.

Nicolette grew up in an analog world on a horse farm in Maine and in the Dopamine series she uses her intricate oil paintings to highlight the takeover and silent pervasiveness of technology, influencing our daily lives, across all ages and continents. Social media companies intentionally craft algorithms to manipulate users into giving their apps as much attention as possible. Her painting draws attention to the dopamine addiction of our society and the deep effect social media has on the minds and bodies of children and adults alike. Each painting is intended to encouraging viewers to reflect on their own relationship with technology.

Nicolette lives and works in Los Angeles.

This weekend “Dopamine, First Impressions” oil on canvas 60”x 48”will be a part of the represented by in space #1216 please come visit us and say hello! Why did I choose this painting to represent my work in the show? I feel it’s my duty as an artist to say something about the times in which I live. This baby on a cellphone represents an entire generation of people, including myself, who have been seduced by a useful and beneficial, as well as addictive technology. It’s a part of us. This has never been the case until now. I have the experience of witnessing and experiencing this transition first hand, and consequently documenting it through my art.
