Did someone say Dodger dog? 🌭 💙🧢⚾️

Swipe to see our handsome little model.

The ask was for a dog portrait with a Dodger blue background. I think I delivered. This was a fun one to make, I played with different blue tones to make sure that background didn’t seem so flat. Although they wanted more try to color I was able to add a few streaks of blue in his gray hairs to tie this whole piece together.

Easter Puppy

This is one of the last paintings I made last year before my little hiatus. I’ve been playing with different colors and trying out different backgrounds. All my layering created a very textured finished product. I’m still figuring this whole thing out, and I can’t wait to see what’ll come out of it this year.

It’s been a very long time, but I am back. I have a lot of work to catch up on, but I am so excited to get back into it....

It’s been a very long time, but I am back.

I have a lot of work to catch up on, but I am so excited to get back into it. I took a step back from art to focus on advancing in my career. I am lucky to be in a position where I am allowed and encouraged to be creative in my work everyday, but I got to say playing around with chemicals is a lot different and potentially more dangerous than playing around with paints and such.

Obviously I couldn’t stay away completely so here is that last thing I completed. A little tiger’s eye doodle on a 2x6 label we would have tossed out. This little thing kept me distracted and redirected my focus when things were overwhelming.

Personification and goddess of the rainbow and messenger of the gods. Iris is said to link the gods to humanity, fitting considering rainbows seem to connect the earth to the sky.

There’s always been something about color that can convey so much and somehow link to a person’s emotions. Bright colors can be associated with happiness, glee, hope. Deeper hues can be associated with passion, anger. These hues can go on either side of the spectrum, positive or negative. Dark colors are associated with sadness, gloom, and doom. Color in art is what sets the tone or mood of the piece and what connects the viewer to the art and the artist.

A little sea witch, or as Daniel would put it, a sexy sea hag. Quite appropriate considering Medusa was cursed to to be a hideous hag after her affair with Poseidon.

I’ve been told I’ve had a deadly look, over the years I’ve worked on that not being the case, but I think it’s time to bring it back. I used to get in so much trouble for having the bitchiest face, my coach would yell at me to fix my face during games because I apparently looked too angry. If looks could kill… 🤷🏻‍♀️ Anyway, I guess it’s time for my inner Medusa to come back out because I’m tired of the constant disrespect that comes with “being nice/polite.” It’s like people just think they can go ahead and take advantage of you and the fact that you’re nice enough to let things slide. Tired of being 🤡, stone cold bitch is back.

🔥 Hestia 🔥

I’ve decided that these next three mermaids are from Greek mythology. So here today we have the goddess of hearth fire.

I’m still practicing how to make these, my background is a bit rough, but I love how the colors came together. My line work needs to be cleaned up, but I’m blaming that on old, worn, and overworked brushes., I still need to work on these bodies and poses, because something isn’t completely right with this. Anyway stay tuned to see my next mermaids.

In case you’re wondering how many layers of paint I use per painting…

Currently laying down my base, establishing my light source, and throwing on light shadows for some dimension. A lot more hours go into painting as opposed to drawing. There are times I’m working a single spot of a painting for hours because I can’t get the right tone or shading. Then I over exhaust myself and walk away and when I do come back, I forgot what colors I was mixing to make these shades/tones 🥴
(luckily this is a simple 4 color palette because I’m 🥱 )

I still draw, but I love exploring the different things I can do with paint.

Also, I really need to get a time-lapse camera and tripod or something, because holding my phone or find a creative way to prop my phone up to record the process just really isn’t cutting it anymore😅

I was never one to put a background on paintings, but it’s amazing how a couple strokes of can tie a whole piece together. Swipe to peep the tiny details you may not have noticed.

Every painting is customizable and each brush stroke is done with intention. I just love creating texture!

A year ago, I got a message asking if I could paint people in the colorful fashion I usually make my paintings. I said sure I’m up for anything. I had never painted a human subject before so I was nervous, then different colors in top of that 👁….

Although I went conservative with the color and sticking to the same color just different shades, this is definitely something I want to try again. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to make this very special piece for you! ❤️

Also this is as a sneak peek into a “Madonna and Child” series I will be making over the next year.

I miss doing portraits... Every time I start losing motivation to work on projects I have, I try to do a portrait to help me get out of my funk. As much fun it is to try new things, and work with new mediums, nothing compares to pencil and paper. Now, I’m itching to work with charcoal again. Black and gray was always my strong suit, so it’s always what I fall back on when I hit a wall creatively.
