Happy Father's Day to all the dads and father figures who have offered their shoulders to lean on and carried us home.

Narratives about family and everyday life transcend cultures, time periods, and mediums to help give shape to our common beliefs and connect us to something larger than ourselves. The Lucas Museum of Narrative Art is a home for these visual stories, opening to the public on September 22, 2026.

Hello there, General Grievous.

Towering over the Lucas Museum of Narrative Art's “Star Wars in Motion” cinema exhibition, this recreation of General Grievous's Wheel Bike from Star Wars: Episode III only existed in CGI before our co-founder George Lucas sought to bring it to life for the museum. Check the link in bio to learn more and see the stunning first look inside the Lucas Museum.

Artist Joey Terrill has spent his career crafting work centered around the Los Angeles community he calls home. Here, he shares the story behind Chicos Modernos, a Spanish-language comic distributed in the late 1980s and 90s to raise awareness about HIV and AIDS prevention.

The Lucas Museum is proud to house Chicos Modernos in our inaugural exhibition as one of the many graphic stories crafted to inspire and forge community. Come view this original comic and more in our galleries when we open to the public on September 22, 2026.

"What an artist is trying to do for people is bring them closer to something, because of course art is about sharing. You wouldn't be an artist unless you wanted to share an experience." — David Hockney

The Lucas Museum of Narrative Art is saddened to learn of David Hockney's passing. His enormous influence on contemporary art and visual storytelling will continue to connect and inspire, and we're honored to have his illustrations for Six Fairy Tales from the Brothers Grimm among our inaugural collection.

“A place where a whole family can lose an afternoon.” 📚

Our co-founder Mellody Hobson shared with Vogue, “Growing up I lived in the library,” and we find ourselves taking after her with a library this grand. See more of this exclusive first look inside the Lucas Museum of Narrative Art at the link in bio.
