Set to an original score by film composer and costume designs by luxury fashion brand , Wavelength takes the viewer on a journey of movement and color that awakens a feeling of joy and hope within. AMERICAN ICONS — The Cage

Created by Jerome Robbins in 1951 and set to Stravinsky’s Concerto in D for String Orchestra, The Cage is ballet at its most unexpected — primal, unsettling and deliberately outside the lines of classical tradition. Stager Diana White brings the original choreography into the studio, while Artistic Director Melissa Barak shares why The Cage remains her favorite ballet of all time. Alongside them, the dancers learn a movement language that asks them to bend, crawl, strike and move in ways that feel anything but conventional.

The Cage joins Paul Taylor’s Dilly Dilly and LAB’s very own Artistic Director Melissa Barak’s Wavelength for American Icons — three distinctly different works, together on one stage.

On September 8th, the Hollywood Bowl audience will be treated to selections from George Balanchine’s “Who Cares?” It was the choreographer’s jazzy ode to the late, great composer George Gershwin. And to dance to these famous and beloved tunes performed by the LA Philharmonic under the ✨ ??

We’re officially back in the studio preparing for our upcoming season!

Paul Taylor’s Dilly Dilly is one of the last works created by the legendary, modern choreographer before his death in 2018. Chock full of comedic wit and charm, Dilly Dilly exudes quintessential Americana set to familiar old-timey tunes by American folk music legend Burl Ives. It closes our American Icons program celebrating America’s 250th. September 24th - 27th at The Broad Stage in Santa Monica. Ticket link in bio!
