The first time I saw VH in ‘96 or ‘97 without David Lee Roth or Sammy Hagar singing. Honestly it was a killer show! Gary Cherone had some big shoes to fill but then again so did Sammy Hagar. Gary was more of a Sammy Hagar than a David Lee Roth. Honestly Gary’s band Extreme was an incredible band on their own they just got pigeonholed as a ballad band after “More Than Words.” That song fu***ng sucked. Anyway, It was my first time to see Van Halen and Engelbert Humperdinck could have been singing for them, I didn’t give a s**t who was singing for them because I was there for Alex and Eddie!

The music of Van Halen meant a lot to me growing up. It was awesome to see them in 1996 and again in 2015. Music hasn’t been the same for a long time and never will be again. There will not be another guitarist like this. Nor will there ever be a band again like Van Halen. Rest easy Eddie.
