We're thrilled to re-open our space tomorrow, Sat. Sept. 25th, 2021 with the first institutional solo show of Dominican-American, Bronx-based artist Tiffany Alfonseca. After a long 18 month closure, our re-opening exhibition goes back to basics: Family. Through a suite of new paintings inspired by personal photo albums, Tiffany explores the nuances and complexities of Black Latinx experiences and their anchoring role in understanding Latinidad in America. Our public opening will take place tomorrow from 2:30-4:30pm. ALL visitors to our space must present proof of vaccination and photo ID or a negative COVID-19 test conducted 48hrs prior to visiting. We'll see you soon--we've missed you madly.

"Curator Cesar Garcia said: 'As the city reopens up having an opportunity for artists to provide little moments in which people can see themselves, see their own experiences, reflect and know that it's not just something that they're experiencing alone. I think it's the beginning of a healing process for everybody.'"

Artists and health experts recently partnered for the 'We Rise' initiative to create art in public spaces and engage communities in Los Angeles in conversations about mental health. This report produced by Jillian Kitchener.
