Creating Immersive Entertainment:
How Combining the Art & Science of Visual Storytelling Yields Exciting New Experiences

In this collegial show ‘n tell event masters of immersive media will share their work and discuss how they integrate legacy tools and processes with emerging technologies to great effect.

Presenters will demonstrate that immersive media is not a separate discipline from linear legacy entertainment, but its logical extension. They also will examine areas of overlap in the disciplines, such as story structure, casting and VFX, as well as differences in budgets, tools, workflows and distribution methods.

Regardless of the end product’s format, the creative process remains an absorbing adventure for producers, and a delight for consumers.

The Culver Theater lobby has a full no-host bar. Food can be purchased in the theater lobby or at various nearby restaurants in Downtown Culver City.

Join SMPTE Hollywood and 8k Association for an exclusive evening exploring the rapidly evolving 8K ecosystem and the transformative viewing experiences that 8K delivers. The event will feature playback of native 8K content on the Amazon Culver Theater’s state-of-the-art 8K screen, providing many attendees with their first opportunity to experience a true 8K presentation in a premium theatrical environment. Attendees will also discover how 8K enhances immersion, realism, and creative storytelling and how these same benefits are expected to translate to the home as larger displays continue to gain adoption.

SMPTE Hollywood and Act Local are pleased to be sharing Booth 447 on the Universal Studios New York Backlot at Cine Gear Expo 2026.

Act Local will be joining SMPTE throughout the event. We invite attendees to visit Booth 447 and learn more about the programs, discussions, and activities being presented during Cine Gear.
